I have just had my second surgery in 5 weeks to remove the cancer and am waiting for results to determine further treatment. Being semi mobile and dependent on others is difficult emotionally and frustrating. My mind is working overtime because I'm not fit enough to do anything that would distract me, so all I can do is think and it's depressing. Trying to be strong for the family is emotionally exhausting. I'd like to hear from anyone experiencing something similar.
Hello Babs, welcome to the online community.
If you haven't already found it, there is a specific group for breast cancer sufferers where I hope you will find the support you are looking for.
Just click on this link, then click the "join" button.
Hello , a second welcome to the community from me. I see you have found the breast group and the awake thread so I think you are in good hands now for that emotional support you wanted.
You mentioned that you weren’t fit enough to do anything and I had a look at some of your posts where you said you had a drain fitted. I cope emotionally by having walks and keeping active but at my lowest fitness wanting to build things up I got hold of Macmillan’s move more dvd, it has exercises that can also be done in a chair, so I wondered if when the time is right for you that it might be an idea?. Just in case I will put the link in for you below.
Of course you may have also have some music at home that you can use to either embrace those emotions that are working around your head and then change tempo to some upbeat ‘Im going to beat this’ music. If you find anything good that helps, you could also add it to Jimmy’s power of music community blog, comments bit.
I also play scrabble type computer games when I want a distraction it’s good to find your own thing.
Best wishes
Take care KT
Hi KT, Thanks for your message. The exercise you recommend looks interesting. I'll give it a go. I'm moving around a bit easier now the drain is out but two surgeries straight off CV has exhausted me. Was fab to get it out though!! Thanks for the music tips too.
