Does anyone have experience of hiking / trekking at altitude with Lymphodema? I have mild but persistent Lymphedema of one lower leg, which is stable and I manage it well on a day to day basis with compression tights and strapping. I am very active and find that it does not restrict my activities at all as long as I manage it. I'm planning a trip to Nepal and wondered if anyone has advice / experience about being at altitude? Thank you
Hi DinkyandDobby and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
A trip to Nepal sounds fantastic but I can understand your concern about how your lymphoedema might be affected by the altitude. Are you under a lymphoedema clinic as the nurses there should be able to give you advice? Alternatively could you speak to your CNS as they should be able to help too? When I was planning a long haul flight I spoke to my CNS to check that there wouldn't be any problems and she was very helpful.
It would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
