Hello, this is my first post here. I am so grateful to have found this community.
i don’t know if this is a rant, but has anyone else organised their own funeral? I am doing it to take the burden off my family, but also to get what I want. Is it weird to be thinking about the design for your own headstone? It doesn’t feel weird to me. I think I’m doing this while I can.
Thanks for listening!
I'm with you.
I've been to so many funerals where people say " ....... would have loved this get together" and yet the Main Person is missing it. Seems mental.
Why not have a proper, knees up with relatives and friends. At least you get to experience the whole thing. Or use the money instead to all go on holiday together?
Funerals are such a rip off. I'd rather spend it on a Direct Cremation (which are becoming more and more popular)
People will still remember you.
Hello Harebelle, pleased to meet you. It is each to their own and my parther and I have recently updated our Wills and we are having Direct Cremations. We have no children, no family living nearby and my siblings live abroad. We do have friends (!) and as we are very involved in our local community, I’ve asked my partner to have a ‘Coffee & Cake’ afternoon in celebration of my life at our nearby community centre. Each to their own but I know this is the right decision for me and my partner. xxxxxxxx
I've always said I want a Living Wake, people I care about and who actually care about me. No paying for them that don't come near but come out of the woodwork for a knees up. I've told them thats , and it will happen xx

Hey,
Just throwing this out there, appreciating the costs of funerals. Remember there are organisations out there who should be able to help, should you have any affiliation with them, specifically RBL, etc. They will take care of finding monies to help with funeral costs.
Good luck and keep on keeping on.
Simon
