Morning, so in 5 days I have gone from breast cancer, curable to, it’s in your brain, bones and neck. Shell shock doesn’t even begin to cover it! My emotions are all over the place. My family and friends are totally devastated. How, how do we come to terms with this or learn to live with it! I’m really well at the moment and apart from some fatigue and double vision I have no symptoms of cancer. As yet I have not seen the oncology team and I feel that when we have a plan and some timeline ideas things might become easier. I’m just looking for any advice, comfort etc xxxx thank you xx

  • Hi Elvira welcome to this forum.  You must certainly be in shock.  Diagnosed de novo must be a terrible shock.  I have secondary breast cancer in most of my bones and skull.  I wanted to wish you luck with your oncology meeting this week.  Will you find out your treatment plan?  Google sometimes has out of date and unreliable information.  I don't believe in the life expectancy prediction because we are all so unique and respond differently to treatment.  They are improving treatment all the time.  Anyway welcome to the forum.  Sending you hugs.

  • Hi Lee, thank you so much for replying. I’m hoping I will get some more information at tomorrow’s appointment about treatments etc, I’ve got questions and I’m sure my family will have many too! Daughter is a nurse so I think it’s almost worse for her as she knows more! Definitely avoiding google! The initial shock sort of makes you think that you won’t last 5 minutes, but I’m starting to see that many people keep going and fighting and you are so right that everyone is different and we all respond to differ t treatments. I had no idea about this community but I am so grateful that so many have responded positively and with encouragement so thank you xx
