Very sad, terminal not treatable

So gutted tonight.

Chemo was too harsh in Nov 24

so radiotherapy in Jan/ Feb 25 shrunk a noticeable bit, the rare inoperable sarcoma tumour & alleviated the symptoms for a short time .

I was getting out and about & feeling alive again I really believed it had gone .

Always told it was only palliative though, they told me I was terminal, last September.

began to feel better to feel alive, happy again in April /May & then it all started to come back recently..

Tho it hasn't spread, its growing , painful, bothersome,

So today I went to my oncologist

she said sorry there is nothing more we can do for you- nothing, don't come back.

She said it is terminal & not treatable.

Don't

She said I will get you good palliative care.

I'm not coping too well  after news

I want to live in hope & believe there is better days.

Is anyone else in similar position.?

Thanks

  • Hi   I am so so sorry you have been told this. The one thing we all dread to hear. I hope you have support at home from family or friends. Please do call the MacMillan support line who are available from 8am this morning on 0808 808 00 00. Speaking to someone there will really help you with the news you have been given.

You are not alone, we are here for you. X

  • Thanks Chelle

I don't have family here,  or near, its difficult.

I used to phone the helpline a lot & stopped when I had last radiotherapy as I felt I had enough info to keep me going.

    Take care too x

  • Hi Posie

If you don't want to phone the helpline, do you have someone you can share this news with? A local Maggie's or Macmillan centre? A friend?

It is very hard to try and get your head round this on your own. The phone helpline is there for you to get emotional support, to offload to, just 'listen'.

I'm sending you a virtual ((hug))

  • Hi

I am so sorry with your situation. It must be doubly hard to be on your own is well. Is there a maggie centre or similar you can go to? I attended my local hospice ‘living well programme’ and find it very beneficial. The hospice is a very calm and relaxing place to be. Maybe you could visit there when you are ready?

It would take much time to absorb such news. Try to be kind to yourself and take care xx
