Hi All
I’m new to the group and was hoping to tick off my bucket list by visiting abroad, but since I’ve been given an SR1 (less than 12months) nobody seems to want to give me travel insurance-I’m 57 and in good health except for the cancers which aren’t impacting my ability to or travel (currently on holiday in a cottage near Bakewell.
any advice?
Hi
I have insurance with insurewith. They are very good with very complex medical condition. You can fill in some of the form online to start with then call them for the finer details. I find them very reasonable and very responsive.
I am currently on a 3 weeks safari holiday in Southern Africa so trips abroad is definitely possible.

Thanks for the advice, was going online and every were was saying no, will phone the companies and see what they say, will also help in making the decision to either taking early retirement or die in service (my wife would receive an extra £70,000 if I die in service) and completing a bucket list
You could also try Holidaysafe, they are part of the same group as Insurancewith. I accessed online quotes through comparison site albert&eddie who are also part of the same group - I received quotes from both Holidaysafe and Insurancewith and the former were cheaper. It just depends on individual circumstances.
I hope you can get fixed up and deal with the question of early retirement or not - not an easy decision.
I’ve just come back from a SAGA holiday. It was a solos tour so I was on my own but joining a group. It was Great Railway Journeys of Switzerland. Right up until the last moment I was not sure I wanted to go and actually regretting booking it. I thought that although I feel well enough to travel I might get poorly while away. I have oesophageal cancer that cannot be cured. About 2 weeks before I was due to travel I looked into insurance. The company I called for a quote was All Clear and the first question was “do I have more than 6 months to live?” I honestly do not know so I called The Christie to ask the question the reply from my specialist nurse was that I could say yes to this question and the hospital would back me up if required. She also recommended a company she said that Maggie’s recommend called Insure With. I took out a single trip cover with them for £220.
I thoroughly enjoyed my week away. It has given me some beautiful memories of Switzerland, Italy, Germany and Lichtenstein. I met some lovely people who had no idea how poorly I am but who looked out for me when I was a little slower at walking or tired more easily than they did.
I cannot emphasise enough how much good this trip has done me and friends and family say they can see it in my face.
so if you can my friends, go for it xxxx
Hi We’ve been with insurancewith for quite a while now. They are good as long as your consultant says he has no objection to your trip. You can’t get fairer than that.
My first quote after calling over 10 companies was £9,000 (yes 9K) for a 4 week holiday in Benidorm in February! I laughed at them and said the holiday didn’t cost anywhere near that amount. Thanks but NO thanks!
Love Annette x
