Morning all.

Just want to tell you all my story.

Had 3 weeks running around Thailand in January, amazing.  Came back and started with toilet trouble, went to hospital, had all test and found out I had a large tumour in the rectum.  Was told I would have radiotherapy and chemo to shrink the tumour before removing it.  I was advised to have a stoma bag before treatment. When doing the stoma op, they found my stomach lining was covered with what we know now is cancer. So now I am starting on my journey of palliative care. Not sure on what to expect, one day at a time I suppose.

  • Hi Jammynammy, welcome to the group, I'm sorry I'm late in replying. So sorry to meet you here, I'd rather have met you elsewhere.

What a shock for you, I suppose we've all had the same thing so we have a lot in common. My diagnosis was in March 2015 and I'm lucky enough to still be here thanks to 2-3 treatments a week since late 2015. Every week.

How are you feeling now, especially mentally. It's a hard diagnosis to overcome but what can we do. Your path through this will have many bumps in the road, some that seem insurmountable and they'll be so difficult but I hope you can bypass them. In the dark times remember that we're here to lend a shoulder, to share your problems, there's always someone to talk to.

I was away from the site for just over two years because my wife was diagnosed with rectal cancer, just like you. She's had chemo for 14 months, off and on, but mainly on and it was a very difficult time. When I came back to the site my heart was warmed by so many, many caring people that are bringing tears to my eyes just thinking about them. Jammynammy I hope you find the same solace here as I do.
