I have got a diagnosis of cancer of unknown primary with a metastatic cancer in my inaugural lymph nodes. I got the metastatic diagnosis in early March then I’ve been to so many different departments in search of the primary till 13th May when I was finally sent to the CUP team
I’m awaiting my oncology appointment but pallative chemotherapy has been discussed with me
its all been a bit of a surreal journey since I first went to my GP back in January and I didn’t even know cancer of unknown primary was a thing
I’m full of positivity and keeping focused on all the good things in my life like my children, family, friends and work
Hi Though sorry you have had to come here, though you will be welcomed by all.
CUP, is not one I know a lot about.
Just that they do not know when it started from and yes they might never find out.
You will get a lot of support from everyone, we are all on this journey together.
You can say what you like, scream, rant, cry and even laugh, or just have a chat.
Some one always here to listen, and will advise if they can.
We were all new once, we know how you may be feeling, and it does not matter if you have a good support network, only some one going threw the same as you does,
Please use the group, you will get a lot of support, when and if needed.
Others will come along, been a quiet day on the forum.
Had to reply so you do not fill like, no one is here, always some one.
Hi Wendi45, and a warm welcome from me, to the club no one wants to join, but I hope like most of the wonderful caring people on here, you too will be so glad you did, and I'm sure tomorrow you will get to meet a few of the girls and guys on here, not for getting our resident night owl, Annette, who could post any time now, we have people with many different cancers on here, but it's our prognosees that bonds us, makes this place a special place for us, where we can be ourselves, open up, share our thoughts, worries or jokes, and let our feelings out, but mostly to be there for each other.Wendi, I was in healthcare for many years and did many in palliative care, coming across CUP a few times, often it can't be found because your immune system has destroyed it or it's small and hidden by something else the scans differentiate from, and it's great your a positive person, with family and friends in your life, especially children, I'd be lost without mine, but I don't miss work lol.

Hi Wendi45, A warm welcome to you from me. Yes I am a night owl but it is too early yet as it is only about 1am but when I read that Eddie said I might answer soon and Ellie said she hoped others would come along then I couldn't wait. I'm about to empty my dishwasher and washing machine, then think of going to bed to do some jigsaws.
Wendi I am sorry you find yourself here but glad you found us. I am really pleased to hear you have a positive attitude because I am convinced it makes a huge difference on this roller coaster of a journey. I did go to look at your Profile Page to see what had been happening but I see you haven't yet had a chance to fill it in!
I'm looking forward to getting to know you in the coming weeks and months.
Love Annette x
A warm welcome from me too Wendi
You will find this group incredibly friendly and supportive without a doubt
My mental health has been improving gradually since my diagnosis 9 months ago and has certainly been helped by the guys and girls on here since I joined just a few weeks ago
Every morning I say Annette’s little quote to myself “Yesterday is History, Tomorrow is a Mystery, Today is a Gift!!! Living in the now is definitely getting easier for me
My cancer is very aggressive but aside from some discomfort I feel well at the moment and am determined to make the most of this time
You sound really positive which is brilliant and more than half the battle
Lucy xx
Hi Wendi45 welcome to the forum. I know what you mean about primary cancer unknown. I had breast cancer twelve years ago. When I first went to doctor with backache and they found bone mets they were not sure where they were from until I had a bone biopsy. Not something I would like to repeat again. It is secondary breast cancer but no cancer in my breasts this time it has spread through my blood. Anyway I would just like to say welcome and hope you find as much comfort in this group as I do.
