Coping with the 'cocktail' of pain relief and steroids and chemo causing sleeplessness. Desperately want my hand to be restored to play my guitar and piano as the cancer in the spine is causing pressure that has limited the use of my fingers. Looking for online mindfulness and ideas of looking my best despite potential hair loss (again) and being so tired. How can I still be a cool nanny who laughs, plays and has fun?
I feel the same. Just had my first palliative chemo last week and couldn’t even enjoy my eldest granddaughters 2nd Birthday! I want to be remembered for giving them happy memories. I struggle to relax and don’t have hobbies. You still are a cool nanny, it’s only you that doesn’t see it!
I am hoping they will let me have Xmas off chemo but waiting to hear. Don’t want a house full of family and children only to be lying unwell upstairs.
Keep smiling x
You WILL still find moments of memory making and because we have to live so much in the present, like kids do, I find there is a special understanding and relationship that has developed despite my grand daughter only being 3. Resist the temptation to dwell on every milestone and occasion missed (pandemic!) . I spend alot of time looking at ideas on pinterest that spark my imagination to prepare stuff ready for the next play time. I have a 'nanny bag' with activities and stories and simple games in that she grabs every time. I see her even if its only for an hour. Thats a memory that will stay with her way past any birthday. May you get your hearts desire and be blessed with the good medicine of laughter this Christmas xxxx Nanny cool! lol
Hi Swan just read your response to HAC274 absolutely brilliant and so true, I agree with you 100%.
It also shows how sharing my thoughts & feelings with everyone and your amazing responses has really picked me up. Thankyou xx
Hi Swan, haven't seen you on the good morning thread yet, I posted a note to a song it's a bit naughty but funny, if you missed it, it's the baker's song by Lancashire hotpots on YouTube.
What a fabulous reply. Thank you. We all need that kick up the backside sometimes! X
