Back in hospital

I am back in hospital. My blood calcium levels are too high. I have been admitted as an emergency. Don't know how long for. I have iv fluids, a diuretic and better anti nausea meds.

I don't know why my GP didn't deal with my levels, which have been rising for a few months now. I had to keep pushing for blood tests.

The consultant was not happy with the lack of follow up, or with the way I was told by the urologist, or the delay in involving oncology. He apologized on behalf of the hospital.

  • I am sorry to hear this Lucy, though to get this sorted you are in the best place.

I hope they get you sorted soon, and then you can start to go forward,

  • Hi Lucy, It sounds as if the Consultant is in your corner and that's always a good thing. They seem to get things sorted when others have failed. You shouldn't have to "push" for anything, especially blood tests! Your GP has slipped up there.

Hopefully while you are in hospital, they will get things sorted out for you. None of us like being in hospital but as Ellie & Sarah have said, you are in the best place to get things back on track!

  • So sorry to read this Lucy, I must have missed your post at the time. Are you still in hospital? Hopefully they have got your levels sorted now

  • Yes, I am home. For some reason my cancer is affecting my blood calcium levels so I will need them to be monitored and treated every couple of weeks.

  • Oh good, I’m glad that they finally sorted that for you. Sounds like your doc needs a rocket stuck up somewhere!!!
