Wound seems slow to heal.

I stupidly spilled hot coffee on my chest a while back and suffered a mild burn/scald.

I've been putting various coverings on it, as well as leaving it open and yet it's not healing at all.

And I feel like cr*p.

The accident happened nearly two weeks ago

A couple of days after it happened I had another cycle of treatment (pemetrexed  plus pembromizulab)

Do you think this is affecting the healing?

Anybody had similar problems with things not healing?

  • Hi Harebellle, is the burn close to where you have had radiotherapy? That was my first thought, I know how sore my skin was after radiotherapy and the thought of burning it with coffee…..ouch!!

It might be worth getting it checked out by a health professional. Sorry you are feeling rubbish. X

  • Hi Harebelle, that sounds very painful, I agree with Chelle you need to have it checked by a professional especially after this length of time.

  • Thanks Ulls, it is fairly painful x

  • Hi Chelle, I haven't had radiotherapy recently. The last bout was about 4 months ago.

It just seems so slow to heal and I'm thirsty all the time and go to the loo about 4 times a night.

So im thinking I've become diabetic, or could be my thyroid???  Agree i need to speak to someone x

  • Morning Harebelle, I have diebetes, excessive drinking is a symptom of high blood sugar a simple finger prick and you'll know, your are like my wife leaves everything for weeks, stop putting your head in sand and please get an appointment made, NOW.

    Hi Harebellle,

How is the wound? Hope you have seen your Practice Nurse. I think the chemo will affect the healing. I would make sure the chemo nurses know about it before your next treatment is given.

Let us know how you got on,

    A x

  • Would you believe it, it's finally started to heal!x

  • Well that's welcome news Harebelle, has the pain subsided as well

  • Yes thanks.  Still thirsty and going to the loo umpteen times a night so sm going to mention that.

  • You may well have become diabetic. Pemextrexed and cisplatin pushed me over. When i have chemo i have do regular pin pricks because chemo and steroids affect it.  Get yourself checked out.
