Hi  all it seems I only come on here when I feel unwell or have something to moan about and I'm afraid today is no different. well l my  last  chemo on Friday 23.04.21 and my medication is pembrolizab and pemetrexed ,well it seems I caught an infection over the weekend and at the moment feel like rubbish Nauseated face

haven't eaten since Monday  backache generally feeling like poo

So I was just wondering if anybody else felt like this after chemo or with an infection. It just seems I'm always phoning the emergency numbers up you get when on chemo, feel very down at the moment and sorry for myself.

  • Hi Misjudged, this is exactly the right place for a moan. I haven't got any answers to your questions, but I wanted to sympathise, as chemo always made me feel like an absolute dog. The day they told me that it wasn't working, I was just so relieved that I didn't have to have it any more.

That being said, if it's working to keep you alive, then please stick with it and try to look past the grim days and enjoy the days when you feel better.

  • Hi misjudged I think you have every right to feel sorry for yourself right now. Chemo is not easy. It bashes you physically and emotionally.  Stuart is right this is exactly the right place to come and talk about how you are feeling.

You say you haven’t eaten, but are you able to keep your fluids up? Please do not worry about phoning the chemo number, that is exactly what they are there for, and they rather you phoned to check on something, than suffer in silence. If you haven’t felt like this after any other chemo sessions, then I would give them a call.

Hope you feel better soon. X

  • I think chemo always leaves you open to infection Misjudged and you have been one of the unlucky ones. At least it will go eventually and you will feel better.

Otherwise Galilee has given good advice I believe. Hope you are back in sorts ASAP.

  • I felt as if i was always calling the emergency numbers too, but it's better to ring and be reassured than to not ring and deteriorate.

I hope that you feel better soon.

  • Chemo and infections really do make you feel absolutely terrible Misjudged, but please do not hesitate to phone the helpline. This time last year I was on chemo and had repeated infections and got neutropenic sepsis. I phoned the emergency number every time and the only thing they ever minded was when I may have left it longer than I should in case I was a nuisance.

I’m hoping you’re feeling a bit better now.

    Take care

    Thank you

All for taking the the time to reply,I'm feeling a bit better now and your replies have certainly helped,it always seems to take a week to get over the side effects and having an infection doesn't help but I'm glad I moaned on here because I seem to get to people who actually know what I'm going through.

    Once again

    THANKS

    Russell (misjudged)
