I was supposed to recieve my last scheduled chemotherapy today, but I'm neutropenic and so have been delayed. Last time I was delayed and enjoyed the break but this time it has really knocked me for six. My chemotherapy is palliative, so just intended to give me more time, and so far I have had very little pain. So I know I am lucky, but I feel so sad today, not sure how to deal with it.
I read so many posts on here with so many of you dealing with much more than I am having to so far with so much fortitude. I am glad to be able to be a part of this group.
If often feel sad, I’m not in as bad a position as you Salis. It’s not about comparison though. We’re on our own journey, It’s like saying to someone with a broken leg, at least you don’t have cancer, I’d happily break my own leg to get rid of this. We’re in our own position, each is real to us, each as traumatic. Accept your situation for what it is, bad for you. Don’t feel guilt, don’t feel despair, just acknowledge your feelings are real and justified. We all have our breaking points, unfortunately mine have been at work, think I’ve gained a reputation:) just forget yesterday tomorrow is a new day. I hope you feel better tomorrow and can receive your last chemo
John
It is disappointing Salis when the chemo is delayed, probably more so since this was your last scheduled session and it is truly rotten when you’re neutropenic so of course you’re feeling sad.
I think there are times with this whole cancer thing when everything is just mad. You don’t really know if you are on your head or your heels so you just have to go with it and sometimes that means having a good cry, or a scream (often into a pillow), listening to sad music, happy music, reading rubbish, eating chocolate, ice cream or just whatever floats your boat.
I hope you have a lovely day on Sunday.

Hi Salis, I know it isn't easy but try to focus on the positive! Your BBQ on Sunday is what to focus on. Just think, your children won't be seeing you a couple of days after chemo, looking pale and tired, you have time to put your feet up before then and the fact you are not in any pain is a double bonus!
I'm sure they will get your bloods sorted out so that there won't be much of a delay. I honestly do not know too much about chemo because it doesn't work on my type of cancer, however, I have been in this Group long enough to know that a delay doesn't seem to make much difference to the outcome! Enjoy being with your family on Sunday and relish every minute.
Galilee, I hope you feel better today. Sometimes there is no rhyme or reason for mood swings but we know that if it swings one way, it will eventually swing the other!
I hope everyone enjoys their Easter Weekend! I know I will and we have sleet and snow forecast for Sunday/Monday!!!
Love Annette x
Thanks to you all for your kind messages, this is such a lovely supportive group. I have woken up this morning with a better perspective on things.
John, I hope that your work have been supportive of you, I am planning to return to work once my chemo is done, I haven't been fit to do so during it.
Best wishes to you all
Sarah
Hi Salis
Glad to hear you had a lovely Easter Sunday, hope your final cycle goes well.
My neutrophils were 0.74 4 weeks ago so I'm neutropenic. I have my next appointment on Friday of next week and I'm expecting another bone marrow examination. Tbh I'm very worried that my bone marrow is failing and problems are looming.
Take care and stay safe Salis
Tvman xx
Hi Tvman,
My neutrophils seem to dip after treatment, but they rose from.0.74 to 1.04 in seven days, and I've no more treatment planned so they won't be measured again soon.
Good luck with your appointment next week, I hope that things aren't as bad as you fear, or that if they are there is a good plan to ameliorate your problems.
Best wishes
Sarah
