Good Morning to a new Month

  • Hi Eddie, Chelle, Lee, and Stella,

Thank you all so much for your warm thoughts and prayers, I have my good days and bad days with all of this, and I really credit my mom for being here helping me throughout all of this. When I don't sleep, neither does she, as I try to get through the intense moments of phantom pain.

Yes Eddie, this appointment is just to take the cast of my torso so the temporary prosthesis can be made. Once they get it made, they'll keep going back and forth to adjust the fit as needed so I won't have issues with pressure sores, or the risk of it causing me additional pain while sitting upright and learning how to transfer safely between the bed and wheelchair. It will no doubt be a slow process as I adjust to wearing it longer each day.

I love the story and poem about how Sideways got her name Rose. My dog Macy has always been considered our family dog, but I take full credit for her name, and for spoiling her the most.

  • Hi Rose, I've just been catching up with everyone's posts because I wasn't receiving any notifications for 3 or 4 weeks.

So you're from the west of Ireland? I'm from the east of County Down, quite close to Strangford Lough, the largest sea inlet in the British Isles. It's a nature reserve and also an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, a Marine Conservation Zone and a Special Area of Conservation too. I live in a different Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty just a couple of miles from the Strangford one and the area around my house is an Area of Special Scientific Interest, so pretty cool eh?

I've spent many short breaks in the West of Ireland, from Malin Head right down to Cork. The Wild Atlantic Way is a road that I've travelled down many times, not the full length in one go though. One of my favourite cities is Sligo and close to that is Strandhill with its fantastic beach. We used to walk along the beach for 45 minutes and still we couldn't see the end!! One embarrassing time was when I brought the car onto the beach and when leaving, I reversed too far back and got my rear wheels stuck in the soft silky sand but, being in Ireland, there was no shortage of people who came to our rescue and pushed me back to the firm sand.

Have you ever been to the North, Rose?

  • As requested a photo of Alfie Moon after his groom this week. He smells like baby powder.

  • Hello TVMan,

    So, County Down!

Home to the Mountains of Mourne, Rory McIllroy and more, why I have never been?

Yes, I've been to the North a few times: to Belfast for work and to Antrim on holiday.  I keep reading about delicious fish and chips in various spots but we haven't gone north recently.

In 2024, pre diagnosis,  we had planned 10 days in Donegal but had to cancel at the last minute and of course we haven't had a chance since, however,  we still hope to go. And to break the journey with a seaweed bath in Enniscrone and a snack at Shells in Strandhill (where I was converted to poached eggs).

Driving on beaches is a funny one. I first saw it at Rossnowlagh in Donegal as, further south along the Wild Atlantic Way, we tend not to risk it! Good that you got out!

Stacy, thinking of you and sending you best wishes for Thursday from the Wild Atlantic Way Heart️

    Rose

  • Wishing Stacy and Stella all the best with your upcoming treatments and procedures. Stacy, I hope you can make the major progress that you have been waiting for for so long
