Whatever we can plan, do and enjoy, it gets us away from our day-to-day routine. Whether near or far, let's share our experiences, snapshots etc. How did we manage? Insurance? Help at home and abroad...

  • Hi Tvman

I went on a cruise to Norway back in 2019 then cancer struck me a year later. I remember it rained a lot in Bergen. It is a beautiful country to visit. I especially like Lofoten island. Would like to visit it again. X

  • Hi Stella, I'm going with my auntie and her lovely partner on the Hebridean cruise, there an amazing couple who've been together over 63 years, and it will be just Sheila and I going to Norway.

  • Thanks Patrick, I am fully aware of how fortunate I am, as I  know these opportunities to get away are limited, but my trips to Scotland, Wales, both cruises, and the Scilly's are courtesy of family and friends. and I hope your break to Thailand is everything you hope for.

  • Hi Tvman, I know a little bit more about Jane Mcdonald, like she's from Wakefield, just 19 miles away and still lives nearby, we're off to Ayr next Thursday, but only have two full days so we won't be going to NI, so no meet up my friend, I would have liked that, so I'm sorry it won't happen.

  • Cruising is my favourite type of holiday. We have been to Norway several times, and hope to go several more! We are off on a little cruise in December for the Belgium Christmas markets. It’s such a lovely time of the year to be on board with the ship decorated for Christmas.

  • Hi Chelle, I've never been on a cruise, unless you count north sea ferry's, Calmac to the Scottish islands, or the ferry to the Scilly's, but I'm looking forward to Mull & Norway. We've been to Brugge Christmas market a few times, it's where Sheila and I went on our first date, and isn't Norway spectacular, Tromso is the main reason for our cruise, a Christmas cruise sounds wonderful my friend which I'm sure you will enjoy.

  • Hi Patrick, I think it's a good idea to pay a little extra for cancellation options because of our situations. For our recent trip to Legoland we paid a little extra for cancellation options for both the ferry from Belfast to Liverpool and also the hotels in Windsor and in Legoland itself.

We almost had to cancel the whole trip because our 9 year old grandson ended up in hospital just 2 weeks before we left. He had been stricken with a bone infection in one of his legs and had to have IV antibiotics for a few days then oral antibiotics that he was still taking whilst in Legoland.

We took the cancellation options in case Mrs Tvman wasn't able to go because of bowel problems. As it was, she spent most of the 8hr ferry home in the toilet so we were very lucky.

    Love life and family.
  • Is it river cruise for the Christmas market? That sounds wonderful. I have been on a few cruises with my mum. It is a very relaxing way of travel.

  • My sentiments entirely Patrick

I know I’m very lucky to be able to afford some trips and that my health still allows me to

A pub lunch or a garden centre visit hits the spot for me too , I try to be up for anything and everything to keep myself occupied and active

Autumn seems to be on its’ way now in my neck of the woods

Hope everyone has a decent weekend

  • Hi   no it’s on a cruise ship. We have done a few at Christmas time, and one New year cruise which was fantastic with the firework displays in Hamburg. I don’t like flying, and we live within 20 minutes drive of the cruise terminal so I just find it so easy, and such a relaxing way to travel. I’m also not good in the sun, so Norway and the fjords are a perfect holiday for me. X
