Hi Stella, was it your race day today? Hope you got lucky and had a great day out

Good evening
Patrick My Newmarket racing day is today. We had a nice picnic first then went to see the horses parade around the ring etc. I have placed a bet on a horse called Mr Winston to win. It was leading the race at the first half but sadly was chased up by others towards the end. It was a bit too hot really but otherwise a great day out. very busy with some very drunk people by the end!
Winston the cat is not too impressed with the hot weather and his loss at the race. Hardly ate his dinner. Hopefully the hot weather will pass soon.

Hi Stella
Glad you enjoyed the racing, even if you can't celebrate with your winnings!
I haven't done a single thing today, except endless sudoku puzzles. It's been far too hot for me. I had wanted to get more done in the garden, but thought better of it.
looking forward to it cooling down a bit tomorrow!
Hope everyone can sleep ok tonight.

Yes Patrick, have a good weekend yourself. I can only raise a glass of orange juice because I don't take alcohol anymore. I have haemochromatosis and between it and the medication I have to take to deal with excess iron in my body, I have ended up with cirrhosis so alcohol is now a no-no. You know what? I thought I would never be able to refrain but I don't want to end up in hospital again with liver and kidneys shutting down. I can manage fine without alcohol, I don't get out much any more anyway.
Enjoy, Patrick

Morning Stella, so glad you enjoyed the racing. It is tremendous fun to have a day out at the races. Lilly is sending her love to Winston. She is a bit of her food too, just too hot at present. Going to get cooler tomorrow again here, hooray. I received a very lovely surprise from Eddie a couple of weeks ago. He gifted me his painting of the Rabbit he made. It will take pride of place in my Cottage. Hopefully we will be able to meet up again in the not to distant future.
Hope everyone is coping with the heat one way or another. Spare a thought for the mens Wimbledon final today. They are touch cookies to play in these conditions.
Love Angie and Lilly xxx
Morning TVman, you are so right about Eddie. He really is one special guy. What compassion and love he has for his fellow human beings. It’s touching to see all the love going his way from this Forum. It just showed in what high esteem he is being held. Hope you and Mrs TVman are doing ok and have a good weekend . Love and a big hug from

I heard John McEnroe say that they train in those conditions, doesn't mean to say it's easy though. Mrs Tvman and I were remarking that we've never seen so many members of the public being taken ill during the championship. Too much champagne perhaps? The beaten finalist yesterday was saying that all she could hear were champagne corks popping between points.
There's not anyone present or watching that couldn't help but feeling really sorry for her, even if she had won even one game but sadly wasn't to be.
