Hi everyone I had one of these "placed" day before yesterday but I have to say it's rather set me back as I've been really sick since then.Im struggling with nausea and vomiting, pain is manageable. I kind of wish I'd had more warning there'd be plenty of the red stuff both in the minutes after the procedure and now just coffee grounds each time I'm sick.
My apologies for the squeamish amongst you.Since being diagnosed I haven't actually felt ill, but this Is making me realise that I am actually ill.
I'm managing on Cyclizine and Paracetamol 6 hrly but feel weak and wobbly.Ive lost 4lbs and haven't eaten anything since last Monday.Determined to be ' normal ' walked the dogs at 9 am , had to stop several times in hedgerows to be sick ( thank goodness for foliage!!)
I even had to cancel Cycle 1 because I just didn't feel strong enough to cope.Im sorry to be gloomy but I kind of wish someone would shoot me !
Hi PP
I am so sorry you are feeling so rough.
I do not have the same C as you, though I have done quiet a few . different treatments.
You should not suffer that much, there is always some thing they can give you to help with symptoms,.
I had to reply, as you are not alone, and always some one here, to just listen, if thats all they can do.
.You will gain a lot of support and advise if needed.
Thankyou Ellie 73 it's very kind of you.I just feel so awful right now.But tomorrow I'm going to go and get some in date Cyclizine ( I think the stuff I have at home is way out of date so perhaps it's not effective) and hope that I can get on top of this nausea and now dry vomiting as it's awful.X
On Monday phone your team they can supply anti sickness drugs, what ever symptom you may have they will advise and help you, as my oncologist said to me on Wednesday, you must have quality of life, do not suffer with any side effect if they are that bad.
Hi Pepperpot, I'm so sorry to hear how poorly your feeling, so much so, you've put back treatment, but It's good to get things off your chest, and we all like a little rant at times, which is what we're here for, and well done walking the dogs so soon after your procedure, as your an ex ODP/nurse, your understanding of surgery and rehabilitation is way beyond ours, so please ask yourself, what advice would you give to someone else in your position,
Eddie xx
I am so sorry to read this. Is this just a phase that will get better over time? Maybe the brain just have to process and accept this new thing in your oesophagus? Can the team prescribe you some stronger medication?
Hope you will feel better soon x
Good morning Pepperpot I am really sorry you are having it so tough. My oncologist also said you have to have a good quality of life and this doesnt sound like it. Hopefully you will start to be able to eat soon and stop feeling nauseous. Have you phoned your care team. Sending you big hugs.
