Just received 2 appointments 1is for my oncologist. The 1st is to see a haematologist
Is this because oncologist is considering treatments.
Did any of u see a haematologist?
What ca i expect?
Ty..
Hi Fleabane, is the haematology appointment, immediately before seeing your oncologist, I saw a haematologist, just once, early in diagnosis, just lots of questions, a physical exam and bloods, followed by a scan then a talk with the haematologist, after quite a wait, they were interested in ruling out possible lymph node involvement away from the cancerous area, I still have no idea why this was passed to haematology. Fleabane I was there quite some time, so take someone with you, or something to read.

Ty Eddie....your advice is welcome. Hubby takes me to all appointments, he insisted from the beginning to share the journey together. Made myself laugh then.. ...my hubby takes his kindle, me usually some needlework etc. But I get bored easily and can occasionally chatter to him when he is reading, or tickle him or hold his hand and lean in for a small kiss.. anything for a smile...he is a very quiet man..and I'm a devil when bored. Dreadful on an aeroplane or in a car. Never allowed to sit behind, my kids refuse because I can be a rascal.
Anyhow, I'll take a picnic of water, coffee in my special Christies cup and some chocolate.
Ty again for caring
Morning Fleabane, not sure how much my experience will help, but hopefully it's of some use, I prefer to go to my appointments alone, I've been doing so for 43 years, Sheila, my partner, and soon to be wife is such an introvert and I would end up supporting her at my appointments, I think you would be perfect company for me lol, The Christie is a wonderful hospital, and has a Maggies centre too, do you go there my friend, well worth popping in, you carry on being a devil, I'm sure hubby loves it, and best wishes with your appointment.

Oooo a good wedding.. ..congratulations
I used to do all my medical appointments alone. But after my heart attack and now this my hubby has realised how amazing I am and is afraid of losing me..
It's funny because I come across to the outside world as quite vivacious, but I think it's a masking technique. I am actually happier in my own company. My brain can become exhausting over stimulated in the outside world. Noise, sights, smells etc..
Ooo yes MAGGIES. Amazing place...our is like an oasis of calm after all those treatments and tests....lush greenery, small areas of comfortable seating, amazing gardens...and the staff so giving without getting in your face...just amazing...
I'll read the devil bit to my husband and children....they will roll their eyes...they will just say not a devil..just mad...
Hugs as ever
Hi Fleabane, a long day so sorry for the late reply, thank you, we have tried to get married twice before, let's hope 3rd time lucky, though we've just had a family wedding at the Scilly's, and yesterday my youngest daughter came round to see her mum and me, to tell us she's getting married on June 28th, which is wonderful news.
I'm sure hubby loves you for many reasons, being amazing being just 1 of them, and I think many of us wear a mask, which is why this forum is so important, we can just be, but we do differ regarding an over stimulated brain, my problem is with concentration and remembering
Maggies really are amazing, I'm between Leeds and Nottinghams Maggies, but find them such a wonderful place to reset, when we go away, if there's a local one, I pop in, so far I've added Cambridge, Inverness and Aberdeen, all fab.
Maybe your family will surprise you, and anyway nothing wrong with being a little mad, works for me
