Hi I have been receiving bevicazumah (excuse spelling) for a few months every three weeks. Recently I keep having too much protein in my urine and two weeks ago the same again although my bp was far too high so i wasn’t allowed treatment. This week I’m doing another 24 hour urine specimen today and first thing in morning on Tuesday I have a ct scan, blood tests on Wednesday a face to face appointment with my consultant on Thursday and they will decide if I can have treatment on Friday or if they have to look at other treatment options for men if there is any. Has anyone else found their self in same situation? I am terrified incase this is the end of treatment and I’m trying to put a brave face on for my kids but I have no one else to talk to about this thanks if you’ve managed to read this far and would be greatful to hear from anyone else going through similar

  • Thanks Eddie that’s reassuring hearing this. Can’t thank you enough. I’m so sorry I didn’t realise both your daughter and yourself are going through this I don’t even know what to say to that apart from I am sorry but you are always positive so I bet your daughter is the same god bless you both and here I am panicking because she said a year I am going to fight this until my last breath and I’m hoping at my next appointment they can even give me a trial if I ask you know the saying you don’t get if you don’t ask. I hope you have a lovely day  take care and speak soon xx

  • Good Morning Teresa, well it would be if it wasn't cold, grey and raining, You are welcome if I have helped you just a little that's thanks enough, and thank you, my daughter, Mandy's treatment is going better than hoped, and if anything she's stronger and more positive than me, and it's good that you too are positive and strong as well, i hope your appointment goes well and a trial is offered. you could do a little research while you wait, www.cancerrsearch.org  www.royalmarsden.nhs and www.ctc.ucl.ac.uk offer good information on trials, Teresa I am signed up with the first two, never knew of the 3rd one till recently and my local university, as you say if you don't ask, best wishes.

  • Hi Eddie hope you are keeping well. Can’t remember if I told you I’ve been put on daily chemotherapy tablets. They said they would call me in four weeks so that’s now the 9th. My memory is terrible due to stroke many years ago. I just wanted to update you and find out how you and Mum are getting on xx

  • Hi Karen, it's lovely to hear from you again, you were waiting for your oncology appointment the last time we talked, so they've put you on chemo tablet's, how are you managing on them, I hope you are feeling ok.

Mandy's doing well, thank you, she's finished RT, which went as well as hoped, have her MDT meeting Nov 4th to discuss surgery which we believe will be on the 8th. I have my MDT on the same day, my treatment is failing but still has some value, so will likely "depending on scan results", stay on my existing treatment and take a 2nd generation ADT alongside.

we're both doing ok, especially Mandy, which matters to me the most, we are on holiday, as it won't be possible soon, having 9 days at the Isles of Scilly to forget about cancer for a while.

Karen, we're hoping to have that meet up in Glasgow, sometime between the 18th and 22nd of November, we would love you to come. will keep in touch and let you what's happening, my very best wishes with your treatment, take care.

    love Eddie xx

  • Hi Eddie, I hope both meetings go well and Mandy’s surgery. Do you mind me asking what the surgery is ? I will understand if you don’t want to discuss that. I’m sorry to hear yours is failing they have told me if this doesn’t work they will move me back to iv chemo but have also said each treatment only lasts so long. Yeah I’m definitely up for that meeting we will discuss it once you are both home from holiday. It sounds lovely I wish you both the very best of your nine days away to forget everything, I’ve now accepted with the family a holiday back to Tenerife just isn’t going to happen so we are looking at lodges for around March or April. I’ve just had my second granddaughter in the space of fifteen weeks I’m so in love with both, we have Charley and Adeline they’ve made me feel great and I was away with my daughter Charley’s mum yesterday for bridal fittings she has brought her wedding forward due to the circumstances they will be getting married on sixteenth of February I’m really looking forward to that. Sorry meant to say I am feeling good with the tablets I take them daily but for now go and have the best time relaxing in the Isles of Scilly lots of love sent to you both.

  • Hi Karen, and thank you for your kind wishes. Mandy has sarcoma of the breast, she had breast cancer 12 years ago, she was only 39yo, her treatment went very well but we were told there would be a recurrence one day, and it has but as sarcoma.  But her treatment is going well and we have more hope now than at diagnosis

I understand most treatments have a limited time, mine is complicated by me being castrate resistant, so treatments that are effective for most people for 3 or more years, will work for 1 to 2 years for me, good to know you have options, and good to hear your feeling good on your medication.

We both have our MDT meetings on November 4th, so will discuss the meet up after then, you might have to remind me LOL.

Wow Karen, another granddaughter that's wonderful news and what lovely names, aren't they just the most precious things in the world, and the best medicine, please give my congratulations to mum and dad for  their beautiful daughter, and on getting married, not surprised you're looking forward to the wedding, its going to be fab.

Karen, im at the Scilly's with Sheila "my partner ", and soon to be wife, and Mandy, my eldests, not forgetting Poppy our Jack Russel, take care.

    love Eddie xx

  • Apologies for the mix up I thought Mandy was your wife. I’m sorry to hear about her recurrence and I wish her all the best for upcoming surgery. I’m not sure if I mentioned I was given one year prognosis at my meeting but I don’t plan on going anywhere that soon I’ve got too much to fight for and I have far more good than bad days. I wasn’t expecting one year I thought maybe at least two/three but after a few days to get my head around it I bounced back. We can catch up on everything at our meet up and I will leave you to enjoy your holiday. Give my regards to Mandy and also Sheila love Karen xx
