Having been diagnosed with terminal Ovarian cancer and gone through a failed operation (open and close) then chemo which made me feel too ill so I stopped as my low grade cancer does not respond to chemo very well I am surprised to still be plodding along.I do not want an end date but I am now nearly three years on definitely slowing down.I am swollen especially my ankles and very week plus constantly tired. How is it for others like me I wonder I have always had a positive outlook during this journey and celebrated every passing Christmas (initially I thought I only had one)so I feel blessed to still be here but do wonder how other people feel on their journeys and what they do to keep the momentum.Any comments no matter good or bad would be appreciated.
Hi Chimpy and a warm welcome to the group. I have to say if slowing down is a sign of coming to the end of my journey then I've been coming to the end for quite a few years now! I can't do, this year, as much as I could do last year or the year before that etc. However even the most positive person I know (which happens to be ME) have their off days when things get on top of you! The frustration of not being able to finish something i started because i am too tired, really gets to me! Things like changing sheets on the bed, used to take me maybe 15-20 minutes, now takes me off and on a whole day because i need to take breaks!
Like others my family keep me going and my stubbornness not to quit! I have told my sisters that when I die, if they cannot remember the happy times when they think of me and thinking of me makes them sad. I would rather, in that case, they didn't think of me at all! Death doesn't scare me either but the way I die does because it's the fear of the unknown!
i am so glad you felt like sharing this with us!
Love Annette x
