I have secondary breast cancer to my bones and Lupus. Having a bad day mood very low and tearful. I usually put on my happy face but can't do that today. I never get a break recently fell and broke my hand and damaged my face. Also my sister in law had a bad stroke.
Nothing happy ever seems to happen.
I live on my own with my wee dog.
Sometimes I would just like a hug and not be told I'm brave or I look great.
Also I don't feel supported by medical staff.
Only see oncology team after my scan for result inbetween I just have to get on with it.
I've not had one of them ask how my pain is.
Just feel cast adrift at times.
Does anyone else feel like that after a secondary breast cancer diagnosis.
I'm an ex nurse and always supporting other people with their problems but don't feel I get much support back..
I'm the 5th member of my family with cancer and nursed my Mum until she passed away.
Today has just been a bit overwhelming but tomorrow another day.
We all keep going somehow.
Doreen.
Hi Doreen, Sorry for the delay. I just wondered when you said none of the medical staff asked you about pain. It struck me that if you haven't told them about the pain, then they might not bring it up.
I'm sorry to say that this happens to us all in between appointments you don't hear from anyone and it is because they are helping others. It can be a lonely place but that's why we are all here, to support one another as we know how you feel.the people who tell you you are looking good just don't have a clue but I'm sure they are doing their best! It helps to talk to others who know how you feel and we certainly all do. The moods change from day to day so if you have a bad day, make sure the next is better

Hi I'm sorry to hear that and of course you are as important as any other patient, that wasn't what I meant sorry. However if you have told them about the pain and nothing is being done then I'm sorry to say you have to tell them again more forcefully. I know we shouldn't have to but we need to speak up for ourselves. I wonder if you have spoken to your GP, he/she can refer you to the Pain Team or contact your Oncologist! Please don't leave it. Good luck.
Love Annette x
