Pessimistic and no faith!

Morning all, hope you are all keeping well.

Had an appointment with my Oncologist yesterday, he authorised another 9 chemo's. But I haven't yet had a scan to see what effect the first round of chemo has had. He said on the basis of questions he's asked  me, my responses and the look of the area concerned is a clear indicator that the chemo has had some effect on the tumour. This is positive news right? But still I am mentally unable to accept it and remain pessimistic to safeguard myself. I believe this is because I have no faith and went through such a bad rollercoaster time when they were trying to find a diagnosis. I mean amongst other mishaps they completed a scan and advised me it wasn't cancer I had a bleed. Yeah right, I actually had a 15 cm tumour, how the hells bells do you miss that on a scan huh!! Now when they give me positive news, I struggle to accept it as I'm so scared they'll give me hope but then only take it away again down the line. Does anybody else feel this way?

Food shopping today and I think a cream cake is in order! Hope you all enjoy your day whatever it is you may be doing.

  • Hi Candysmum I posted you a reply around midnight which seems to have disappeared. I wish all my therapies were local, relaxation, wellbeing and memory are/were it Leeds 70 mins away with no guarantee of a parking place, mindfulness and exercise at Worksop 45 mins away, Ongoing, start soon Nottingham 75 mins away, holistics Mexborough 30 mins away as is physiotherapy, but not complaining, I know i am luckier than most, PS i also do dancing at the local community hall for seniors, Sunday nights but don't last long as i am the only man, Ask your CNS or GP's advice on safe exercises and one's if any to avoid. take care

  • Morning Marie, so sad you never got out at the weekend as weather for the week is crap, Marie this is your first post to me in a while where you haven't mentioned how you feel, which is a wonderful sign, I think you deserve a box of cream cakes, my friend's have been baking me treats which are off limits to me till Wednesday, I think they just like torturing me, apart from some walks to field with Poppy, 30 yards away, been resting and following diet, got an appointment Wednesday with cardio/oncology team so will miss  the memory and loss family opening day, though will get to official opening on Friday. enjoy your shopping, sounds good to me, and take care.

  • Morning eddie, it's okay, no worries, days out will come for sure. It's the same today i'm afraid. It's sofa delivery day round 2 lol It's coming anytime this afternoon. Here's hoping it's packed so we can get it through the door. Palliative care nurse is also due today to check the equipment is all ok in place. Unfortunately the bed rail hasn't arrived so she may want to rearrange, Dave will email her. Yesterday, browsed M & S and got some yummy food and cream cakes, it was a good day. One more day to go until you can eat your baking treats, that is torture isn't it. That's amazing that through all you have been through you have still got up and walked poppy, fantastic. Only serves to show your strength and resilience. Shame you will miss the opening day tomorrow but still, Friday is good. I hope you are feeling stronger today. Keep on keeping on, you're doing an absolute awesome job. Enjoy your day and take care X

  • Hi Marie sorry i took so long, I'm guessing he sofa's ben delivered, been assembled and you have made yourself comfortable on it, PC nurse will sort the bed rail, hope you said it was urgent. Love M & S though mainly for bread and occasionally a raspberry trifle, Bet the cream cakes were yummy, and glad you got out and enjoyed it, Sheila likes their eclairs, i should hope so at £5 for 2. Gave all my cakes away to group at Aurora, my diet has 10 more days to run, so please less of the yummy cream cake talk. Poppy 10 minute walks for now, Apart from the anaesthetic risk the Op was a minor one, not even a hour. What are your plans for tomorrow, off out with daughter maybe. Cancer hospital for me in the morning an baby sitting later,

  • good morning eddie, hope i find you well. Yes, sofa delivered hoorah. All assembled, a little stressy but not too bad. We love it and it's very comfortable. There is plenty of room for us both to lay and be comfy and that's what we wanted. I love M & S too but youre right it can be a little pricey. Some of the food is just so yummy. We love trifle too lol Yesterday took a walk out for an hour or so, just walked the local high street and back through the local park. Today, district nurses are coming and they haven't given me a time so tied to the house. No worries, will potter around get some jobs done that need doing. How did cancer hospital go? I really hope you are starting to feel much better, youre doing amazingly well. Hope you have good news for me. Enjoy your day and take care.

  • Hi Marie, your new sofa came quick and assembled too, well done Dave, are you going to treat him. M+S raspberry trifle's are amazing, Sheila and I like a walk round the local woods which is next to the wildlife park and if you go at the right time you hear the lions roaring and occasionally they sound really close, bet it felt good to get out for a walk, a hour in the park sounds nice, how did you get on with the district nurses, mine is fab, I don't need her often but she calls me every week to see how i am. cancer hospital went well tumour benign and as heart a little better, MAYBE chemo could bean option, Enjoy you pottering, i'm just back from Harrogate show and feel kn_ck__ed but ok. Take care.

  • Is that the yorkshire wildlife park? Love it there. Sounds fab walking with the lions lol Our back garden backs on to a wonderful park, it's wooded and theres also a flower and plant shop there. Theres a lot of wild garlic and bluebells growing at present. Its a beautiful walk through. District nurse was lovely, she asked me lots of lifestyle and health questions and provided me with a number should i need anything. She said she would check in monthly to see how Im doing. Its good to know that support is there if needed right. They're delivering the bed rail today so tied to the house again. But not bothered, sunshine here so will get out in the garden and do some more tidying. I'm so glad to hear you are on the mend and that's some really good  news there that everything has gone so well and that chemo may be an option. That's amazing you got to the harrogate show. Wow, your strength and resilience is barr none. I hope you enjoyed and had  much fun. What plans have you for today. Enjoy and take care X

  • Hi Marie, It is the Yorkshire wildlife park, only been once with grandkids not long ago. your park sounds very nice and on your doorstep as well that's fab, bet it has an ice cream van when it's warm as well PS wild garlic is yummy, aren't district nurses great, I have Bev, over a year now and calls me every week and has helped me out a few times. post Op going well though not sure if chemo was an option, i would want it, but that's for another day. Back and feet a little sore from yesterday but amazed myself with what i managed, bloods, physio and hospice done, massage soon and prostate cancer talk later, Hope the bed rail came early and you got out in the sun,

    Eddie xx

  • yes it does have an ice cream van in the summer and hot dogs lol You are doing unbelievably well post op, your resilience and strength is barr none. Amazing job you are doing and long may it last. Bed rail arrived mid afternoon, didn't get out out but was pottering in the garden. Nearly all the perennials have come through now and they look to be doing really well. Was also playing a new game on the playstation. Yes, I do enjoy a bit of gaming, occupies my mind and distracts me. I find it a good thing. Well, it's raining here this morning. Badly!!! So not expecting to be doing anything exciting. Not that I'm unduly bothered, heading up to Scarborough and surrounding tomorrow morning for a few days break. Looking forward to that. How about you? How are you and what news have you for me? Take care X

  • Morning Marie, My Op was minor, not even 1 suture, and as much as i love you singing my praises it was no big deal, though thank you for all your support, i really appreciate it. Looks like all your work in the garden is paying off, always nice to see the garden coming back to life. The bedrail arrived yippee, hope it's the right one. Marie me and computer games, what do you think. Weather crap here as well, though better next week which will be great for you trip to Scarborough, that will be FAB, have a wonderful time, both of you. Today have a family dinner at the farm which i love, though no dinner for me as on diet for 5 more days, so when your at Scarborough enjoying eating all those goodies, think of me and my forticreme's, Enjoy your trip, you really deserve it after all you have been, and are, going through. best wishes to all your family, take care.
