  • There are Deaf churches in Liverpool. Ours is in Mold connected to my church.

I was born deaf so I automatically picked up lip reading. I went to main stream school as my dad wouldn’t let me go to a deaf boarding school. They have hearing impaired units now but back in my dayGrinhere was no help at all. I do have 50 percent hearing and digital hearing aids are good. I went to night school and took a GCSE English exam when I was 56 to see what I was capable of as I was always the little dumb blonde Grin And I got an A Flushed

I learned BSL in 2003 and worked up to Level 3

Thats rotten that you became deaf later on as that can be harder. I’ve never known any difference but I always hated being different as a child.

  • I'm sorry you felt left out at school. I worked with a deaf lady for 9 years and picked up some signing from her, just a bit of basic signs. Clever girl getting  A English  GCSE. As I'm a bit dyslexic  I was classed as thick, till senior school and Mrs Jones got her hands on 10 of us. Still have problems spelling,  do numbers back to front if I'm tired. But we just get on with it xx

  • People with dyslexia are clever! My granddaughter has the same problem with numbers. Yet she got an A+ for her English Lit she’s doing drama, music and English A levels and loving it. But Maths we have left alone till she ever finds she needs it. She didn’t get picked up at school for any help with it. I’m glad the teacher reached out to help you. It makes all the difference to your moral.
I also went on to get an A level in Eng Lit so I wasn’t such a dumb blonde after all! Although I sometimes wonder Joy

    must crack on xxx
