Rainie, after our conversation the other day when you reminded me about what I had said about toast. Since I have been eating porridge oats and cereals with hot milk for breakfast for a couple of months since they are easier for me to swallow, with a mug of hot water. I felt on Monday that my swallowing had improved somewhat. So yesterday morning I had a slice of multi grain toast with lashings of melted butter, washed down with a mug of strong filter coffee. Oh my goodness how delicious the toast and coffee were, it made me feel so happy and set me up for the day. I had good old porridge oats and coffee today. Such simple pleasure from simple foods and drinks. Happy days. Kind regards Frank.

  • That sounds delicious, I love hot buttered toast with marmalade and a mug of good coffee.

    Best wishes

    Sarah

  • Oh, that sound delicious - I've had to avoid multigrain toast as I pay for it with the fermentation vat boiling up in my gut. I've replaced it with toasted hot cross buns and it's just as yummy.

    Hugs, Barb xx

  • That's just lovely Frank. Yummy. So glad you could enjoy those lovely taste sensations. I had porridge this morning which I enjoy. I have mine with Ceylon cinnamon on top. How do you like yours?   Rainie x

I have porridge every day, love banana, and blueberries in it, had mango too, today, lovely Yum x

  • Blueberries I'd like. I love all berries and have a freezer full of redcurrents and blueberries from the garden. I love mango, but would be spending the rest of the day getting it out of my teeth! I will try the blueberries next time. Do you end up with purple porridge?   Rainie x

I always used to put them in my bowl, then porridge with the cooked bananas , on top, but now I add them to the porridge cooking, and it’s lovely, very purple too Joy

  • I often have toast and jam or marmalade for my tea if I don't have any appetite as that always goes down well. Porridge with golden syrup and double cream on reminds me of my childhood and staying with my grandma I was a spoilt only grandchild and this was a treat, I still enjoy that now

  • My mum used to make a 'Golden' sponge pudding when I was a kid with the syrup at the bottom of the basin and it soaked into the sponge. Loved it with custard. Your porridge would be a certain way to help put on weight when needed and easy to swallow. Do you fancy that Frank?   Rainie x

  • MMMMMMMMmmmmmmmm, got me drooling here. My mum did the same in the microwave, always came out gorgeous and so easy to do.

    Hugs, B xx

I have cinnamon sprinkled on the porridge oats too and a sprinkle of Stevia sweetener. Very tasty.
