Art for art's sake

I was wondering if anyone feels they might benefit from being part of an art group specifically for those here. I'm an artist, though I have to admit to you that I've produced absolutely nothing for ages due to being ill and in hospital, not having anywhere to exhibit for aeons and generally being extremely knackered out most of the time. But then I started thinking maybe I could do something positive about it. I've worked within what's called the 'Arts in Health' sphere and done a lot with things like colour therapy. I'd also like to say that you don't have to be rich to make art. I've done a whole exhibition made from recycled materials. It's all about taking yourself to another place for a while and having a bit of messy fun. No judgemental rubbish or anything like that. And if you don't think you're able to draw anything that looks remotely like what it's supposed to look like, well, that doesn't matter either. I think that maybe for starters you might like to message me if you are interested and then I'll try and work out a little programme. Just for us. Let me know what you think. Rainy X

  • Lovely Sarah, keep them coming.

Glad your not doing the calendar out in this!  Rainie x

  • I agree with you Ulls. The woods at night are magical. I have also walked round Venice at 3am with my camera - on my own at the time - so I was probably nuts too but that was an experience not to be missed. Rainie x

  • Next winter scene is 'Decorating the Tree' by Michel Rieder 1898. Sentimental I know, but the light is done really well and it's sort of comfy, if you know what I mean - and we can all do with a bit of comfy at the moment. Hope you're all doing OK? More pictures on the way. Rainie x

  • A batch of 3 this time.

'Snow scene at Argenteile' 1875. Claude Monet

'Christmas in America' Alphonse Mucha 1919

'The Shortening Winter's Day is near a close' David Farquharson 1903

Hope these appeal to the romantics out there.

    Happy Christmas.

    Rainie x

  • Thanks Rainie Heart

  • Another image which I think is very atmospheric and reminds me of Narnia.

I just had an email from my cousin in Canada who lives on Lake Ontario. She reports temperatures of -30. Her sister over in Alberta, -45. I just cannot even imagine what it must be like trying to keep warm in those temperatures. Anybody ever experienced that? Hope you're all keeping warm. I wish you all a good 2023. Rainie x

  • I see that you mean about Narnia x

  • I couldn't imagine living in a country with those temperatures but they are obviously kitted out with the right sort of clothing. The coldest temperature I've been in was in NYC when it was minus 8, nothing like Canada but we were not dressed for it and the wind chill was horrendous!

  • All looks a bit grubby to me! I know, I am a philistine in these matters.

  • Hi Rainie & Little-Fi, We had -11 last month but the chill factor makes it seem much colder than that, when you turn a corner it feels like the wind would cut you in two! I love it when the cobwebs freeze over and you can see how intricate they are, they are like little masterpieces! It is fine to go for a walk as long as you wear layers of clothes, scarf and hat!

    Love Annette x
