Hi everyone, I don't post much as I never feel I have much to offer. But i would like to ask a question . I have untreatable bilateral lung cancer. I don't appear to have any symptoms (I have plenty for my other maladies) I have applied for attendance allowance on advice from my gp (she brought me the DS1500 form) That seems to imply she thinks my time is limited. As I live alone I feel the need to get my affairs in order as much as possible. I always thought doctors won't ever give a prognosis, but is that true? Thanks for reading.
that's my next project, to see what I can find locally.
Yes Tvman, they are all going up by that amount!
Hi Minimoo, that is great news. If you contact Social Services they may be able to help you find someone who can do your shopping for you. They do charge a fee but at least you have peace of mind because they are all vetted by SS because they are going in and out of people's houses all the time. I thought it would be worth a try! Good luck!

Well, it has been a long time since I was last here. I moved into a new home but it hasn't really been a good move as it is so cold and cramped. I have an appointment to view another much better one, very close to my sister. She has been an absolute star in doing her best for me. I am so lucky. I do have a question though. When my cancer was diagnosed I was in the care of Respiratory for my emphysema. I have never been referred to oncology and wonder if I should have been? I have not seen anyone since that initial diagnosis, not even a tele chat. I understand how covid has thrown everything out of kilter and lots of patients need immediate help. I hesitate to bother the doctors but can't help feeling just a bit abandoned (I do hope I don't sound selfish, just feeling in a lonely place right now)
Hi minimoo, I don't know the answer to your question, but I would be pushing for more help, you are not selfish. You should have a liason nurse, if you do I would contact them, if you don't then I would try your consultants secretary, I usually use email., but sometimes there is only a phone number, if so I would ring that and ask why you have heard nothing.
Best wishes
Sarah
Hi minimoo, I'm so sad that you feel in a lonely place. At the age of 73 you shouldn't find yourself in a cold house, can you get in touch with social services or Age UK for help? Their number is 0800 678 1602.
Another starting point could be our MacMillan helpline, their contact number is 0808 808 00 00. The helpline is the best place to start, they have so much information and experience you'll be able to find out everything you need. Tell them everything that is a worry or concern for you. Everything. Make a list of questions to ask.
Don't think that you're selfish, you're in no way selfish, you need help at a most worrying time of your life when you have been neglected by medics who are supposed to help you. Good luck minimoo, keep in touch and let us know your progression.
Take care and stay safe minimoo
Tvman xx
Hello minimoo. Nice to have you back, but it seems clear you need more support and advice. Try not to think that you are 'bothering' anybody on here, but as far as your medical people are concerned, it's time now to be a bother! It's high time that you saw an oncologist and got up to date with how things stand. I urge you to get your thoughts straight, as somebody else said, write down all the questions that you need answers to, and press for a referral/appointment as soon as you can. All the very best. Let us know how you get on. Rainie x
