Hi Ruth, We took in a parrot from Birdline. They often mention that a bird will only accept a woman keeper, but sometimes a man only as keeper. This is often based on the fact that it was one or other who had previously mistreated it, and they are then wary of that type of human. The one in the picture was female and she usually wanted cuddles from my husband, though she didn't object to me - especially as I was the one who usually fetched in dinner!
