Hi all, I've just been invited to have the vaccination on Sunday, I'm waiting for a call back from my CNS to ensure that it is safe to have, I must admit I'm pretty nervous about it but let's wait and see???

Had bloods this morning the nurse was brilliant straight in 2 vials of blood no bruising Grinning .  full bloods, liver function, bones which is a new one to me so if anyone knows please share, and then the usual CA19, I have a phone consultation next Friday with my oncologist for the results so everything is crossed till then.

On another note the badgers have been coming up not as many just the odd 1-2 but the little darlings have been digging up my new bulbs, so yesterday had to replant and then again this morning don't you just love them.

Glad people liked the photo, we're trying to take as many as possible it's amazing how different we see the world since I was diagnosed, so there will be more photos to follow, I'm starting my own online art gallery, POA. Grinning

Stay safe stay positive

  • Hi

Yes Fi, you're right. We had heard of carers getting the jab too so they would have been older than us, 65+, and the nurses were seriously considering it until one delicately asked her age which is 62. if she had been 65 or more she would have been vaccinated but unfortunately they are working at the most vulnerable first. Fair enough, my wife is in the next group anyway. I know it would have been easy to give her a jab but if people started to turn up with a carer who was younger than the current group getting vaccinated then those who were missing out would not be pleased. Understandably.

My wife understands, she should get her vaccination soon enough.

Take care and stay safe Fi

  • Hi Tvman, So am I correct in thinking you did not have any side effects connected to the vaccine? If so that is terrific, I wonder if you are in the minority or majority! Most people I know have had some sort of reaction, even if it was only a bad headache. Good for you and I hope your wife is the same when she gets hers. I get mine on Wednesday, unless we are snowed in. It is so bad here, they have not even done the main roads this time as it caught them out! Lets hope it clears today (Tuesday).

So have most people here already had their vaccine? If not, I hope you will get word soon!

  • Roger and I had our jabs yesterday and no side effects so far. He is a worrier and is worried about the South African variant as we had the AstraZeneca one. I am just pleased we will have some protection now. Hopefully restaurants will open open on March 8th and we can meet up with friends for a meal again

  • Any of those jabs are good, tell the hubby to stop worrying and enjoy your new protection and freedom.

  • Had my jab yesterday (Oxford/AstraZeneca) - slight stiffness around injection site but no worse than the flu jab.

  • Hi Annette

You're quite right, no symptoms. I'm inclined to think that many people may be interpreting something like a headache as a reaction to the vaccine, that may have been going to happen anyway.

I believe in thinking positively and I have often said that in my opinion I'm one of the healthiest people around which causes blank, unbelieving expressions.

I sometimes list the number of illnesses for want of a better word, and I think I go into double figures yet as long as I take my 20+ tablets a day I feel great!

I can't hide the fact though that my back problem is horrendously bad. That takes the smile off my face frequently.

Take care and stay safe everyone

  • We are having both of our jabs tomorrow late evening,  has anyone come across long queues? We cannot stand around for a long time in the cold however much we want to be done!

Finally had mine yesterday (right place, right time... Hahahaha!!!). Had to queue outside for 30 mins in -2c with a biting wind Brrrrr....

No reaction so far and now also completed first WBRT session this morning so all good!

  • You are over the starting blocks, clear road ahead,  well some potholes and icy bits, but otherwise all good Sir SiT.

  • Norberry, you talking about long queues reminded me of a regular joke played on new airmen just out of training. they used to be sent to stores for a "long weight". However, no such thing but they were told by the storeman to wait outside, where they ended up having a "long wait"
