I know that started this brilliant idea so I wanted to carry it on for her and as the forum has become a little gloomy recently as we face loosing them both soon.

So

1. daloni and dizzie outlasted their prognosis by years and I am sure proved that you can have quality of life despite doctors best guesses and we all benefited from knowing them on here.

2. I just got back from a fabulous holiday in Galicia, northern Spain. I walked more than I have for months (chemo pushed me into a wheelchair) the food and wine was fab and I met old friends and laughed a lot.

3. Macmillan have admitted that their upgrade has been a bit sh*t and are working on improving it. Hurrah for Macmillan who have admitted it didn't go well. How many organisations actually come out and say that.

I don't like to think that newbies think that we are a miserable lot, what struck me on here when I came was how much joy, laughter and living went on despite cancer.

  • Hi

This cancer thing has ruined a lot of retirement plans. Mine was to buy a motorhome and go round Europe with my wife but like many others here I have lived longer than I expected and my wife has another 5 years to go before retirement.

I didn't draw up a bucket list as such, we have had a few holidays but nothing compares to heading over the water to see my now 4 year old grandson in Peterborough and seeing him burst in the bedroom door in the mornings Slight smileHaven't been able to see him for a year Disappointed Lots of zoom meetings but just not the same ññ my

You lucky so and so Galilee to have that. I'd just love to spend a week or so casually navigating the Norfolk Broads at a slooow leisurely pace, tending to my plants on board. Enjoy, Galilee.

    Take care and stay safe

We had a narrow boat  holiday about 30 years ago. La Norbette would not jump off to open any gates or bridges so stayed on the whole time. Then she got clogged up in weed while waiting for me to open a swing bridge. After a lot of revving and no going we found she had sheared the  propshaft bolts. The  repair man came along the towpath on his bike,  Fixed the boat, said you will be OK now, we said thanks but we are going home! Last time on a boat!

Not much of a story really!

Sounds like a stress. Life on the canals is supposed to be the opposite of stressful, puttering along at under 4mph, we'll get there when we get there, maybe June, maybe August. I love it when the canal goes under a motorway bridge, and all the busy people are hammering along up there, oblivious to me just beneath them, taking my time in a completely different world.

It is a good life. Some friends of ours had a big cruiser moored at Walton on Thames, they used to just sit on it reading the Sunday papers. I do remember being mighty jealous.

    3 good things

My husband brought some fresh pjs & a stash of chocolate in. I was taken down to the lobby in a wheelchair and had 5 mins socially distanced & wearing a mask with him.

He picked up a new lightweight M&S dressing gown on the way which I bought & paid for on the phone in the wee small hours

The physios have asked for a few aids at home, bannisters etc and he’s on the case already Blush

    Feeling quite spoiled xx

Last time I was in hospital, the 5 minutes in the lobby with Debbie when she brought me fresh clothes was so indescribably precious.

Got to love a new dressing gown Slight smile

Keep your chin up, home soon hopefully.
