I know that started this brilliant idea so I wanted to carry it on for her and as the forum has become a little gloomy recently as we face loosing them both soon.

So

1. daloni and dizzie outlasted their prognosis by years and I am sure proved that you can have quality of life despite doctors best guesses and we all benefited from knowing them on here.

2. I just got back from a fabulous holiday in Galicia, northern Spain. I walked more than I have for months (chemo pushed me into a wheelchair) the food and wine was fab and I met old friends and laughed a lot.

3. Macmillan have admitted that their upgrade has been a bit sh*t and are working on improving it. Hurrah for Macmillan who have admitted it didn't go well. How many organisations actually come out and say that.

I don't like to think that newbies think that we are a miserable lot, what struck me on here when I came was how much joy, laughter and living went on despite cancer.

  • Never been on a narrow boat, how many does she sleep, as thinking of next holiday.

We have a fixed double bed and a fold out sofa bed, so she sleeps four. Bigger boats are available from the hire companies.

It's a great holiday, but it can be very expensive, especially this year when demand is outstripping supply.

  • 1. Had oncology appointment with nurse specialist as I am stable enough not to need to see consultant

    Yay for stable!

    My 3 good things:

    1. Had a good appt with my GP. Got rid of a few medications (cholesterol - who cares if I have high cholesterol?). She said I look better now than when I last saw her. She is having me get a booster covid vaccine, btw.

    2. Went to the humane society today and got to play with kittens and puppies! Who can be unhappy around wriggling puppies???

    3. I realized the pain I'd been having in my side, that I assumed was irritation of the pleura, where my tumors are, has mostly gone away on its own. We will scan in a month to see what's up in there. Maybe the growth has slowed down some, that would be awesome.

    4. (I need 4) The school district where my son will start kindergarten on Monday joined many others in the state and announced that it is requiring kids and adults to wear masks at school this year. This is directly defying our stupid governor, who made an executive order in June that forbade governmental entities from imposing mask mandates. I feel soooo much safer sending him to school now. We are burning up with covid here in Texas, even the governor just tested positive.

Wonderful Patricia. I read that your governor has Covid now. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy!

  • Good to talk to someone from Texas.

I have been there in my 20s.

    Definitely good to wear masks.

I feel so much safer now I am double jabbed.

Very good your pain is better. I have pleural mets and mostly they don’t bother me x

  • Maybe the governor will have a rethink now they have had COVID. Sadly those that are dismissive of COVID only ever seem to get a mild case so they learn nothing

be safe, be nice, be you

  • Lovely to have the reassurance. Wonderful good things Rainie x
