once I renew and get my passport I have decided to do more, travel and do things I always wanted to do,without worrying if it's going to kill me.
I've been too worried about doing things, now to hell with it, Life has to be lived, Do more life:)
I hope this gives people more courage to do likewise.
I've Learned you can't worry about the inevitable.
Hi All, I love my holidays, always have! When I started on the Target drug, I was advised not to fly because it was too easy to pick up infections. We started to look at alternative ways of travelling. We got the train to Southampton several times to go on cruises. We got the train to Newcastle then took the ferry to Amsterdam to see the Bulb Fields at Keukenhauf Gardens which were amazing and something I had always wanted to see! There are many cruises that leave from different ports in the UK.
When we go on holiday, I take my manual wheelchair. A lot of the Cruise companies ask for the details of wheelchairs, weight, height etc and are only allowed a limited amount on the ship for Health and Safety reasons. My husband pushes me around the ship but when we were going off the ship, the crew insisted on taking over from him! They were fantastic!
We are insured annually with Staysure. Since I have started flying again, we have taken at least 3 holidays a year plus a few short breaks! In fact our first holiday of this year is on 9 Feb for 3 weeks to Spain. We have been going there at this time of year for the last 18years to get away from the cold weather as I have arthritis.
Anyone going on a cruise for the first time, try to get one which does not need a Tender at any of the Ports of Call! Able bodied people even have problems with these. This happens mainly with large ships that can't dock in the port because they are too big so you transfer into a Tender (or shuttle boat) to take you. It tells you on the Itinary before you book which ports have them! We have already booked further holidays for May, July & Sept!
Go ahead......book now!!

Hello Daloni,I am going to the Philippines if I get the go-ahead, I cause some virus, a few days before xmas and come boxing day had hot &cold Sweats coughing real bad coughing blood, passing blood the other end, hardly breath, reluctantly had to ring 999:(but the entire night in hospital.
I thought I was a gonna
One never knows what's around the corner or what's going to happen tomorrow, another reason to live life to the Full!
One more thing I forgot to say , the Ambulance crew asked me if I go on conscious, did I want to be revived.lol wasn't expecting that.
Hi
And I thought I felt rough over Christmas! Crikey! How are you now? I find it takes me much longer to get over viruses now than it used to.
xx
Hi Lass
You are right I am from the North East , Redcar on the coast near Middlesbrough. I hope your mam gets sorted and can go somewhere lovely xx
thank you Daloni, I am much better but still have a cough, seems to be leftover from a few yrs ago getting some other virus I can't seem to shift, oh well :)
At least still kicking
I will be returning to the far east,, I have to get A Dr's note, to say what meds I'm on and can take, my treatment is every 2 months at the moment so will be going for 1 month. next, I have to find Reasonable insurance.
Sorry, reply to Daloni.
I will be buying and wearing a face mask while on the place, for the recycled air spreading germs.even if I get looked at strange:)
Cool! I hope it reinvigorates you, . Who cares if the people stare at you? It’s worth a funny look or two if it means you don’t catch another bug
I’m just back from saying bon voyage to my sister who’s off to Thailand for six weeks. She’s oddly unexcited - she’d rather be touring Europe in her camper van. I told her to get a grip.
Meanwhile I’m very pleased with myself. The WiFi went down and I fixed it! All by myself! Ok, the reason it went down was because I managed to dislodge the plug but still. Good job me
xx
Hi I agree with Daloni, who cares if you get a few funny looks! Before we went to Manchester for the Christmas Markets, my sister asked me if I'd bought a mask and I said no, because we were travelling by train, not plane! Well as I said, we are going to Spain on 9/2 and I will definitely be wearing a mask for the duration of the flight, I don't care how many funny looks I get! Because the train carriage, & we went 1st class, was so very hot and quite a few people were coughing, I ended up with a severe chest infection that took weeks and weeks to get on top of, if only I had worn a mask, it may not have been just as bad!
Have you looked in the "Holiday Travel Insurance Group" to see if others have got insurance to the Far East? It's worth a look!
By the way, anyone who looks at me, while I'm wearing my mask, with a funny look, won't know I'm sticking my tongue out at them! Lol!
