1. I'm just about to head off on a weekend with my eldest daughter (10) for a mothers and daughters activity weekend. It's raining but the wellies are packed! Hoping I survive!

2. Head a tiny 3 week old baby this morning - gorgeous remembering new life - so small and perfect!

3. Had a delivery of some amazing biscuits from a friend - special.

Have a good weekend all, despite all the hard.

    Hello,

    1. It was my 60th birthday. Still incurable but having treatment for mets on my liver and sciatic nerve.

    2. Went to the pub with my friends . Only 2 pints of lager shandy though.

    3. My 4 sons plus other halves and my wonderful 4 month old granddaughter came in the evening. Fantastic presents and much laughter.

It's days like this that carry me forwards. I don't know if I'll have a 61st birthday but I'll worry about that when the time comes.

  • Hi all,

    happy birthday big Pete.

    Three good things,

went to the dentist today and only needed a clean and polish!! That’s always a relief when nothing else needs doing. Mind as I said to the dentist it’s a full body workout when I keep jumping as he hits another sensitive spot!!

Went to sons house afterwards, got a huge welcome from their 3 collies, all jumping up desperate for a fuss off me. Dogs make you feel so wanted don’t they.

Watched a video of younger granddaughter at Wednesdays horse riding lesson. She was doing so well this week. She was on a more willing horse who didn’t mind the dark, she looked as if she was really enjoying herself.

I am sat in the lounge listening to the wind. It’s very strong and the fence is moving an awful lot. Really hoping it stays up!!

hope you are all as ok as possible.

    love and hugs

    Maggie xx

Sounds like an amazing day Big Pete!!  Making memories that's what it's all about XXX

  • Hi Pete, Belated Happy 60th Birthday! Sounds like the ideal day especially seeing your sons and granddaughter, I do think it's family like this who keep most of us going! You did say, "other halves" so it's great you have stayed friends, I don't think it happens too often these days!

I've previously already read your profile page but can't remember seeing much about your sciatic nerve! Do you mind me asking what treatment you've had for that? I'm due to go into hospital this Wednesday for spinal surgery! I'm so pleased your treatment seems to be working well for you! Long may it last!

    Hi Annette,

I'm currently on irinotecan plus Capecitabine. Plus I've had 5 cycles of radiotherapy on my sciatic nerve .

Unfortunately it's tumour on my sciatic nerve that is inoperable and therefore my incurable label. It was a blow because the week before at the mdt meeting they discussed further surgery on my liver.

Still I'm still treatable so fingers, toes and eyes crossed that it's working.

I'm keeping a blog that I'll update when I finish this set of chemo. I'm on my last cycle of 4 then rescan.

    Take care

    Pete

  • Hi again Pete, So sorry, I hadn't realised it was a tumour that was causing you nerve problems. I thought, maybe like me, it was a side effect of your treatment. I do hope you have sufficient pain relief!

Happy belated birthday, Big Pete. Glad you were able to go out to the pub, and also to have family around you.

    Three good things:

    1. Hubby took me out in the car to my sewing group. He packed my basket and machine into and out of car. I didn't accomplish much, but enjoyed the hum of sewing machines and women's conversation.

    2. Afterward, totally knackered, I sat on a chair in the lovely sun in the garden and dozed.

    3. Don't have a headache today!! (Yet anyway)
