Whatever our experience with a stoma, obtaining the supplies we need in the UK is rarely more than a click or phone call away. And, almost inevitably, once we’ve had the reversal we will find we still have unused equipment. Sadly, even unopened supplies can’t be used by other UK patients. Before covid, our local hospital used to collect the surplus and send it where it could be accepted.
My reversal came post covid, but I was told about this charity which started out finding good uses for what we couldn’t use here. There may be other similar charities and please share any knowledge you have. While I’d rather not have needed a stoma in the first place, it is of some comfort to think that patients in Ukraine, and elsewhere, are finding life with their stoma just a tiny bit easier.
