New member - antibiotics making stoma produce extra mucus

Hi I was diagnosed with stage 4c Ovian cancer and had to have major debulking surgery, which included a colonosopy.

I am still on cancer preventative treatment and lately have had alot of antibiotics for various infections. This has caused my stoma to produce excess muscus. I have been advised by my stoma nurse to take vitamin C and probiotic drinks. Unfortunately this hasn't improved my problem. Has anyone had the same issues and if so I would welcome any suggestions.

  • Hi  and welcome to the stoma group.

I’m sorry you haven’t received any answers in the group so far, but it may be that others haven’t had a similar experience to report. I have a permanent colostomy but haven’t had the same issues, but my reply here will give your post another nudge and hopefully you’ll get some responses.
