Hi

I’m new on here I’ve had my stoma for 14 weeks now, I’m surprised at how quickly I have got used to it, I didn’t think I would but after all it’s saved my life and am grateful for that.

  • Hi Kymmmh welcome to the forum.. I saw your post and although I had a different type of Cancer, I found your post very positive and can imagine how positive it will be for any new members embarking on this journey. Thank you for sharing and I send my very best wishes for your good health and continued recovery. Gail

  • Thank you so much, it was difficult at first but kept fighting on knowing the major surgery would save my life. I have so much to be thankful for even though I felt my world had fallen apart. I am back to doing what I did before the diagnosis and feel really well Grinning

  • Hi and welcome to the group.

I felt and still feel that same gratitude for my 2 stomas as I wouldn’t be here without them. I did choose to have the colostomy as it wasn’t actually a necessity-my urostomy was-but I wanted to reduce my chances of a recurrence in that whole area.

It was the right decision for me, and I’m still here. Great to hear you’re doing well after your surgery, but if there’s anything you have questions about, please post and there will lots of us who have gone through this and can understand and help.
