Sorry being new to this I wasn't aware that I got a reply

Thank you so much for taking the time

So my mum has an illostmy and this isn't that new, it's actually a year on the 22nd December

I have a little update , on the day I reached out to the forum I rang the stoma nurse she was fantastic she made an appointment with us got seen to very quickly actually and we was told the bag was much too big no wonder we are having accidents all the time ect and she's given us a different company aswel I think we won't be using the curved ones (I don't know why this matters but I'm happy to try something new)

So can't wait to try these new bags for my mum and hopefully gives her the confidence to go out again

I truly appreciate you all and your replies

Mum is extremely grateful to you all aswel

I think it's great that you are all on here to help everyone like me seriously thank you so much Pray tone1

God bless

Xxxxx

I’m really glad you found your way back to us with such positive news about your mum. I hope the new bags are much better for her, and will give her much more confidence about everything, but what a shame it’s gone on so long when there has has been a straightforward solution.

  • So glad to hear your mom is getting sorted. Thank you for sharing the positive news. Please feel free to come back and ask anything. Although your mom has had the stoma almost a year now, it's like she is just starting because you haven't figured out the care of it yet. It's a steep learning curve and you may have more questions.

  • Oh definitely right with what your saying Susan , I just truly hope these new bags make a difference and the correct sizing will make a huge difference, we pray and hope anyway Fingers crossed tone1

Thank you so much for your support Pray tone1

  • It really should make a big difference to have the right size hole cut in the bag, and the stoma now should be at the size where it won’t change, which it does during the early weeks after surgery.

If the stoma nurse has done the measuring, this should be very accurate and means that bags can be ordered from the supply company “pre-cut” which saves having to cut them yourselves. I had many accidents with the scissors in the early days, but all my supplies arrive pre cut now and it’s far better!
