Hi I have a permanent colostomy following a Ap resection Dec 2023 for colorectal cancer. Prior to my surgery I had a high fibre diet but now can only have a bland diet as my stoma does not tolerate high fibre which has made my IBS really bad. Have stopped having bread and have de caff coffee as I know these are triggers but any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
Hi Wayhay and welcome to the group.
i have a permanent colostomy, but due to surgery for a different cancer, so I'm afraid I don’t have a similar experience to share. I am lucky enough to be eat basically what I want, so let’s look for others coming onto the thread who might be able to share some advice with you. My only real “trigger” for high output is dairy-I can’t have milky coffee like lattes or anything with a lot of cream, can only have small amounts of cheese.. but I’ve been fortunate not to have to radically change my diet. Hopefully others can help.
Sarah xx
