Hi I'm glad to be able to join the group I've had my colostomy for about 8 weeks and I've seen the stoma nurse once since having it done .the problem I'm having is with pancaking I think I've tried everything I can think of to stop the problem but still no joy

Lubricating the bag

Blowing air in the bag

Dropping a roll up piece of tissue

Blocking up the filter and I've even tried several different types of bags any advice would be appreciated.

  • I had my surgery last May and experience the same problems - stiil!!  My surgeon advised me only last week that it was because of body shape and where the stoma is. So I've had to resign myself. Hope that's not the case for you.

  • Hi I start my chemo on Thursday so I know that will change the stoma output and the consultant told me that he can't do a reversal so I wanted the colostomy and the bags to be working as best as it could I'm not sure how I would feel if I can never get it to work properly.
