So had my APR surgery on Wednesday, must say I’m feeling better than I expected. Painkillers are wonderful things Blush tomorrow I’m having my epidural removed so not sure if the pain will hit me then .
surgeon is happy with how things went as is plastic surgeon .
Still have 4 drains in but slowly coming out

Been out of bed for short time

  • Hi

I bet you’re glad the surgery is over now. I had an epidural with my surgery, which wasn’t the same, but it failed and leaked out. However, I didn’t have an issue with pain relief at all post surgery, and found it’s well taken care of. I had my pain pump in hdu, but back on the ward it was paracetamol, and shots of oramorph when required. I didn’t always need either of these, but usually had a shot of oramorph to help me sleep at night. For me, the thought of pain was way worse than the reality, and I hope it’s the same for you. Good luck with your recovery, and take it easy.

  • Yes the thought and unknown were scary x

  • Absolutely! But it seems like things are going well for you, and the team are pleased with how you’re doing which is the main thing. Recovery takes time after such a major surgery, so take care.

  • Hi Poohbear

It’s such a relief to be the other side of your operation.
    Take it easy.

I had no issue with pain and I did have quite a lot , the meds were amazing when I got home my GP took care of that too with slow release Tramadol
    Take care
