Hi Poohbear,

I like the name you have chosen. I had an ileostomy for a year and called it Piglet as it was small, pink and often seen with Pooh.

Will you be having an ileostomy or colostomy? By now you will probably have met your Stoma specialist nurse and seen what the bags look like and how to change them. The Stoma Nurse team are great people to go to for help.  It is a bit daunting to begin with but you will get used to it and changing the bag will become a routine for you. There are plenty of products available for you so, if one bag doesn't suit you the nurses will help you find one that does.  Any problems you find yourself with, others have been there before so just ask for help and advice or just swap experiences.

Once you are used to it a stoma will not stop you doing anything that you want to and you will be able to lead a normal life. Apart from which it is helping save your life!

thanks for the reply, my name is because I love poohbear I have a tattoo and lots of ornaments etc 

I haven’t seen the stoma nurse yet as only found out yesterday but supposed to be seeing one on Friday when I go for my pre op , it’s all a rush so still getting my head around it . 
my brother has a stoma and we were chatting about it yesterday he’s told me lots of info xx
