Hi Libby I would have a word with your GP who can probably prescribe correct dosage on prescription also have a look at where you collect them from as I’ve known some pharmacists to give my husband their own brand which take a little longer to dissolve which can make a difference when you are taking a few meds together - he is currently taking Imodium melts which do what they say and melt quickly on the tongue- also have a word with your stoma nurse who can advise on your output and lastly we’ve found it very useful to try different samples of stoma bags etc to help with leakage issues x
Hi Libby
I had the same problem in the early days and was prescribed the tablet form of loperamide which I collected from my GP they were capsules which I didn’t think of and swallowed one. I had no output until the capsule dissolved it took a long time exercise and drinking loads of water so if you have that type please empty it into water. I wish I’d thought of that
I slowed mine down with diet and meal timings if you want any more info just ask away.
Ann
