Thought I should say hello to you all and introduce myself. I have a colostomy and a urostomy, Boris and Donald, and have been living with them both for what seems like forever but is actually less than 2 years. Generally get along with them both, with the odd exception, but as they are both bags for life I need to! Humour has been a good way of coping I’ve found...so I do try my best to laugh at the sometimes unfortunate situations which can happen being a double bagger!
Hello Sarah Boris and Donald.
I love your names, a friend here had Boris and Nichola. I think that you two have something in common in choosing the names. I’m sure she’ll pop in soon. Hilarious. There’s a thread I started and it led to designing the little things. I got a little bit carried away. I’ll do yours if you like Boris is done but he’s got a twin Nichola so I can just design Donald Does he tump?
I’ve an ileostomy hopefully temporary but I have to jump through some hoops first if you select me you can read my bio. Her names Whoopi or WhoopsaDaisy,or Whoopee Cushion after beans normally.
lovely to meet you
Ann
Hi Artsie Ann
Thank you for the welcome. I must have had the same way of thinking as your friend! Donald is a trumper-yes- but quite quiet really. Boris doesn’t like to be left out and is prone to joining in if I do too much bending! And you just never know when such things will happen.
I have always known my bags would be for life going into my surgery, but although they have changed my life, they also saved it and I try to remember that always.
I think we’re always learning with these, so I hope I can learn from the group and hopefully also contribute from my own experiences.
Sarah.
Hi Sarah
Yes there’s great advice and tips here but after two years I think you’ll be able to help others. Mostly we laugh a lot, but when needed it’s a safe space to be where others understand how you feel.
Though double bag does it mean double trouble?
Whoops is playing me up lately. She was lovely and quiet at the dentist which was a huge relief I fed her earlier so that worked. But she’s enjoying making pancakes which has caused sore skin.
Take care
Ann
Hi Artsie Ann
I’ve certainly learned a lot along the way-mainly that 2 hands is not always enough to deal with 2 bags! It can be doubly difficult, so I find myself adapting as best I can usually...but I’m pretty adept at managing after all this time.
I dread things like appointments, just in case, but my worst episode of noise was sitting having breakfast with my family one morning-all was quiet as everyone munched their bacon butties and suddenly there was an explosive noise from Donald...no-one said a word, so I felt compelled to say excuse me, that was not my choice! Best to make light of these things. :) and then everyone can laugh.
I have just moved to a new type of bag which has helped greatly with my pancaking issues. I sympathise with the sore skin though!
Sarah
It would be Donald wouldn’t it.
It must be tricky managing them both. I have enough trouble with one. She’s a pain at times it doesn’t matter what I eat she reacts. Other times it’s fine. But she saved my life and would no way want to go back to how I was before.

Hi Sarah21.I'm (was) the proud parent of Boris and Nicola Boris was named after his English cousin..It must be a family thing as he was also full of wind and
It worked out that I was only their foster parent .Hopefully they will go and save many lives .It's great to see someone who has my sense of humour ,we all need to laugh at times and I know that it's hard.Sometimes it really hard for us. .
I was just lucky that my Consultant was just wonderful .I even asked him to marry me .He said that he was very busy with Covid and he gave me a date .21\10 2025 ..1condition that I kept my husband to do the housework ...

Hi Alaine
Do I detect a fellow Scot? It’s usually humour about this situation that keeps me going, though I am just out of the shower after a particularly bad demonstration of the power of the Donald! It wasn’t easy to find humour this morning trying to negotiate that, but I think he’s calmed down for now.
Your consultant clearly also has a sense of humour..mine is lovely and very upbeat always for which I’ve been very thankful, and is, to me, a miracle worker..I am in awe of her skill, and so glad she led the team operating on me. Now I’m going to have a wee lie down and recover from this morning’s shenanigans and be thankful this did not happen yesterday whenI was on a plane! xx
Hi.
You were on a plane!
Wow
I’ve been told stories of bags expanding and bursting. No I didn’t believe it. But I’m really impressed Boris and Donald on a plane.
Do you have any tips on travel
i have a brother in Spain and a son in Ireland with two grandchildren I’d dearly love to see it’s been two years.
