Rimless toilets

Sorry for the image this might conjure!

Does anyone have experience emptying their pouch from standing into a rimless toilet? I have to decide whether my new toilet will be rimless and wonder if they present any problem with splashback. I find that no matter how much toilet paper I drape around my present toilet (with rim) there is often some splashback if my output is loose and it makes cleaning difficult.

Rimless should make cleaning easier, but will there be wider spread? Mask

  • Hi

I had to google that type of loo as I wasn’t sure what it was! So my two loos are not rimless and I’m not sure if I’ve encountered emptying into a rimless loo before as I’ve never really thought about it. I do have some splashback at times with my home loos so I’m not going to be any help with this query-sorry.

Reading about rimless loos it seems they have a more powerful flush so might cause more splashback, but I’m so used to cleaning the loo after every use that it’s second nature for me now and so I don’t think it would bother me to go rimless.

I hope others have dealt with rimless loos and will come along and respond-what an interesting question!

  • We have rimless wc pans at home, by choice. They flush very well and you can see if they are clean, or not, because there is nowhere for splashes to hide. They were always popular with medical and commercial organisations but lately have become more common on the domestic market. Whichever wc you have, splashing is inevitable at some stage so no hiding places is a better option in my opinion. I always close the lid before flushing and check the bowl, seat and lid afterwards to confirm that all is well. Some wcs work better than others and I have always specified established British manufacturers in my work. Not cheap but the quality and operation are good when coupled to a decent cistern and dual flush valve. I could go on but......... (shortened for reasons of space. Ed)!
