Hi all.
I’ve recently had my second Parastomal hernia repair and this time with the use of mesh/gauze. The operation was 3 weeks ago and yet the burning pain is such that I can’t function without strong painkillers. All the time I’m supporting my stoma as I feel that there is so much pressure in that area, to let go just brings on a high level of pain.
Can anyone advise as to whether this is normal, or cause for concern.
Thank you.
Steve
Hi Stevejhb
I’m sorry to read about the pain you’re still having post op-I’ve not had parastomal hernias with either of my stomas so don’t have experience to share with you about repairs, and whether this is a cause for concern.
Can you put in a call to your CNS to speak to your surgeon? Are you due to have a follow up appointment soon to check on your progress? At least you could maybe get some reassurance by having a chat to your medical team, or be seen by them for a check up.

You are pretty soon after surgery Steve so it maybe just takes a while for the healing? Hopefully it’s not any concern, and you can get some reassurance. Please let us know how you go-it would be good for anyone else in the group facing anything similar.
All the best with your recovery.
