Hi guys

Know it's been a while since I have updated you on everything,

I had my operation on the 6th January, I have ended up with a permanent ileostomy stoma, got out on 12th January, they told me to eat and drink clear fluids, like jelly, ice cream anything soft, does that include Ready break? As I'm getting sick of jelly, yogurt, ice cream and clear soups.

They never really told me what I can eat and starting to feel hungry and also at a point that I'm scared to eat Incase my stoma not on properly.

Also when I put my stoma on today there is a little bit if skin showing at the top is that ok? I also find it better to do my stoma laying down because of my flabby belly bit at the top of my bag, Which is how I did it in hospital, but only really change my bag once myself.

Can the hole be snug around the stoma I'm stressing myself out about it all and over thinking everything and my nurse not coming until Thursday, I need all the help I can get as so scared right now

Much love bigbird xx

  • Miss Tee.if you have unused supplies you dont need a charity called Jacobs Well in beverly near Hull send them abroad to countries which are desperate for items.

Its on the internet if you need the address to send them.

  • Sorry sarah.I hadnt noticed that you had suggested jacobs well too.great minds think alike.

    Kath

  • No worries! There is so much wastage with unused supplies that this is a great solution.

  • I sent them some items and recieved a lovely email back explaining their work.

  • I’ve got five uncut boxes. Four convex one flat. Wipes. Eakin slims and loads of accessories. My stoma nurses said that they now were accepting charity stock for a local company. I phoned them to check if I could drop it off

They haven’t got back to me

I’ll try one more time before sending the stock off. Only concern is the cost of the postage. Think it’s going to be really heavy

  • You can send up to 2kg second class for 3.35 royal mail.evri might be cheaper.

    Kath

  • Blimey Kath I was thinking forty pounds. I’ll phone my nurses first and if no response I’ll send it off. There’s some really great quality products.
    Thanks

  • I think I paid around £5.95 for 4+ boxes of flat pouches to Jacobs Well with Evri - and that was collected from home.  I also had quite a few odds and ends of different sample types that I'd been sent in the early days which my stoma nurse took back. She was holding some training classes for student nurses and she said that they were useful for handing round so that they could get a better idea of the different styles.
