Hi, I'ma relatively newbie to stoma care, I was using Dansac, given to me by the hospital that I had my ops at, but I live in a different area, and my local stoma nurse gave me 2 different bags, they both have foam seals, turns out I'm allergic to the adhesive, I have a very red, angry and very itchy rash. I've been to most suppliers for samples, but only had 1 company who has delivered any. I don't have a prescription set up yet, and I don't know how to set one up. I see my stoma nurse on Tuesday, and she said we'd set one up, but I don't know if they have the bags that don't make me come out in a rash. Can anyone give any ideas of suppliers who have some bags with hypoallergenic seals? I was using Dansac, which were ok, I have to have a convex bag. Also is anyone using the 2 piece bags, I don't have much output each day, so thought these would be ok, any help and advice would be greatly appreciated, I feel like I'm drowning, but because I'm not being given advice from stoma nurses, and then I'm lost when looking online and ordering samples. I don't know what to do, and am also 4 days without any output, usually I get some each day, so a bit worried. I've had some orange juice, which gave me diarrhoea, but as of yet, still nothing. Thank you for any help, it would be greatly appreciated. Rosie
I reiterate what Katy says. Securicare are exceptional. They dealt with all my enquiries, and liaised with my GP for the prescription. As its a permanent stoma all supplies are free and securicare will send any samples. You can go on their website ir call them and theyre professional and respectful. Also can get three support belts free per year.

Support belt is ti help avoid hernias under the stoma or if you already have one they can help to ensure it doesn't get any worse.
They're very helpful and will liaise with your GP to sort the prescription out
Oh. I was really hoping that you had the flat. I reacted so badly with them and tried a few times to swap but my skin wouldn’t tolerate it
Like Sarah said Calamine is so gentle and cooling. I dried mine with a fan or a cool hairdryer.
Can you make an appointment with the named nurse that’s kind?
Tell them why you wish to see her!
Mine were so lovely all of them and I had five it’s just so insensitive to treat you like that. I have heard of a male patient treated the same the nurse he had should be working with paperwork and not patients.
I really hope that you find a caring supportive nurse.
My supplier was amazing. They had their own stoma nurse and she was lovely.
Coloplast Charter but I had to get my prescription through my nurses so you need one that’s looking after you.
Hope that you find the right product for youTake care x

I just wanted to add. Try and do the pelvic floor or core strength exercises that they recommend to help prevent a hernia. Start very gentle and build up. I also found these helped if my output was slow.
I did them twice a day every day. I didn’t lift and held whoopi if I coughed or sneezed. I didn’t get a hernia and never wore a belt
Might be luck but it’s worth a try

Hi
I use the dansac bags which work OK for me. I sometimes get red and itchy around the stoma but use calamine lotion to help. I order through a company called Fittleworth who have been excellent in delivery and adjust my order as I need. I only use a one piece bag but they seem to have all sorts. You can look online for more information. I think many stoma nurses are employed by these companies so perhaps yours is aiming to get you to use the one she is employed by. I could be wrong. My stoma nurse is not employed by Fittleworth but she said if their products work for me, then not to change. Good luck!
I also use Fittleworth and started with the Dansac bags but didn't really like them as it alway felt they were uncomfortable. I asked my nurse and she got Fittleworth to send me samples of other products. I'm currently using Pelican ModaVI which are a lot better.
