Hi all
just after some advice. I have had my stoma for a week. I am home and all was going ok.
Unfortunately, there hasn’t been any movement in my stoma for 24 hours now and it does feel a bit more tender. As it’s the weekend; there isn’t anyone I can ring so thought I’d see if any of you had any ideas of what I can do.
Thanks
Helen

Hi i have no irritation yet very slight redness, i use the powder 7906 all the time no creases although overweight, the adapt rings 8805 have worked well so far when i had a catheter in for a week over Christmas my consultant and most others on holiday it was the most painful thing the entrance was red raw i could hardly move or walk, new neck thing already on charge. Keep me in the loop with your thoughts on the new Breathable Silicone Technology® i will try it tomorrow.
Many thanks again
tony
Oh, I didn’t get on with the powder at all-used to get in a bit of a mess with it and found it ineffective for me, so I didn’t last long with it! I’m glad you are finding it helpful though. I have also used the rings, although a different make I think, but no longer need them now either. It’s funny how things change as time goes along in terms of stomas changing! If you don’t have creases to fill, do you mind me asking what you will use the Trio gel for? I’ve only ever used to fill those skin creases.
My skin around my urostomy inevitably suffers with rawness from time to time as the urostomy never stops producing urine so it can be sitting on the skin as it exits the body. Calamine lotion is my go to solution for that though.

umm don't know why i thought the gel would be useful you right. Trio sting free Skin Barrier TR204 50ml Spray can may be a better thing to use. I am still following what the hospital gave me not explored yet tomorrow will try one of the samples guess i am assuming without actually trying never a good thing to do i tell others do not assume, my mistake, just an overview thought.
Just had a text from the surgery re high cholesterol i had no idea want me to go on statin medication oops what next
need to contact surgery for tests
need a whiskey cheers tony
There’s such a lot of trial and error in finding things that work in my opinion. I couldn’t even tell you how many things I’ve tested out with 2 stomas in more than 2.5 years! It was like Christmas every day at one point with sample parcels arriving!
I thought at first I had to follow what the hospital used, but if I’d done that I’d be lying in my own wee every day. They just didn’t have a clue. My stoma nurse who came to visit me when I came out of hospital was brilliant though and helped me so much.
I’ve learned the best thing to do is just try it for yourself and see how it goes. We’re all so different, and what works for one isn’t suitable for the next person.
I’ve decided to have a vodka since it’s Friday, even though I’m retired! Enjoy your whisky!
