I'm 65 and have had ChemoRad with Capecitabine pre my LAR surgery. All went well, I had clear margins, but 3 lymph cancerous nodes.
Now, I have to have Oxaliplatin and capecitabine for a few months
I have a stoma and I heard that the Capecitabine can cause awful diarrhoea.
Anyone have any tips on how common this is or how bad this is likely to be? Even better, tips on how to avoid it by diet.
Does diarrhoea matter as long as you don't suffer dehydration?
Many thanks.
Hi bobb. It’s awhile since my chemo now but I also didn’t notice any difference in my output. I’ve attached a link to a thread we started about chemo which you might like to have a read of? Loperamide/immodium can help slow and therefore thicken your output. Diet tips to thicken output would be potatos, rice and also marshmallows, jelly babies and wine gums!
