I had my first at home Stoma Nurse visit yesterday.
She was very good and gave me a tip about aligning the bag over the Stoma.
I had not passed anything for forty eight hours and so she told me to take a couple of Senokot when I went to bed.
This morning nothing or so I thought.
But when I was cleaning myself up due to anal mucus leakage I felt a pain.
I checked my bag and I passed waste.
Right lets change my bag I thought to myself and then afterwards it happened again.
This time I am waiting to see if it continues before changing the bag again.
Bubble and Squeak is quite busy.
That's the name of my Stoma bag.
Hi Chromplated and Bubble and Squeak
Great name very apt.
once things settle you will find diet adjustments may help your output. I am an Ileostomy so I’m emptying every two - three hours. I have found certain things loosen and others thicken
Its lovely that you’ve had a visit from your stoma nurses. I never had that they were short staffed!
Did she say that the thicker output you have is causing the pain. It does make sense really. If it’s a couple of senokot it’s a little thing to do to help your comfort
I do hope things settle and you can plan some trips.Hopefully you are more comfortable now than before the operation.

Thanks Artsie Ann. So far so good with the little occasional worry. Mostly pads, and the occasional leakage from my bottom with poo in evidence. I have read and have been told that with the Colonoscopy I had which is a Loop one it can happen. I will be posting and asking others who have had the same type as me shortly.
Thats great idea there’s so much help here. I found this an amazing place for support and advice.
Hopefully though you are feeling better now that the diarrhoea has subsided.
take care Chromplated

Morning Chromeplated
I have a sigmoid end colostomy so have never had any leakage from my bottom, but certainly have heard this is common with a loop colostomy. Hopefully there will be some members here who have the experience to chat with you about this.
I hope however that the colostomy has improved things for you in terms of your constant loo visits, and that you are feeling much better now.
