Monday was my morning of surgery with a Loop Colostomy operation being carried out.
The Surgeon told me later the procedure went well with no complications etc.
So far only blood has actually gone into the bag and apparently leakage from my bottom can continue due to mucous build up etc.
That I am told is quite normal with a Loop Colostomy.
Presently wondering if I have gained anything as to helping with my constant diarrhoea.
However its early days and only a week next Monday so I have fingers crossed etc.
Has anyone else had a Loop colostomy?
If so how long before poo actually goes into the bag.
I had a better nights sleep with two rushing's to the loo with desire to wee which caused excretion from bottom to happen and it looked bad but without the wee the waste matter would have been reasonable.
Here's hoping things start appearing in my bag soon.

Hi Chromeplated I had a Double loop Stoma .Its a bit strange at first but also fascinating.I had to explain it To my husband as pair of stock with each one turned over at the top ..
as for your poo always discharge left in the bowls and blood on the folded over loop .I found that one was more productive the side that was what was left of my Bowel ..
Bladder and bowels ,remember that your bowls don't like being damaged very sensitive.Only eat white food i.e. Chicken no brown bread .
Its going to take time for you and your Stoma s to get used to things .Don't be frightened to ask your Stoma nurse any thing Give them names mine were Boris and Nicola the twins.and don't put yourself in for the marathon .
Good thing is that they are reversible . Alaine
Hi Chromplated
Its early days.
I have a loop Ileostomy so mines different in that it’s on the right and needs emptying more often. The loop part is the surgeon has left an opening for my output though the rest is still connected but there is nothing going through so I can pass mucus occasionally
Your colostomy is a loop so anything in there will make its way out. once it’s out there will be no waste output from you it will just go into your bag.
I really hope that things work as they should for you you really have had a rotten time
Ann
